My 23yr old cob and my friend's 32yr old part arab are living out this winter for the first time + loving it. Seen a massive improvment in their health + happiness, to be honest i'm not sure why i have ever stabled a horse, it's so un-nateral. They are well rugged and have lots of hay and feed.
We are lucky to have good fields though that don't get muddy and perhaps if i was somewhere with bad drainage i would stable, also i also think it depends on your horse.
I do worry about them on days like today but when i go up they are always in the middle of field grazing so they're obviously happy xx
