Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong forum title but I know this section gets a lot of views and I'm looking for ideas/advice

My ID mare has a habit of turning round in the trailer and I'm just about at my wits end 😔 has anyone had this issue in the past?

I have an Ifor 505, I travel her with no partition as she won't load with the partition in...so I've travelled with the back doors open, x tied on bungees and she turned round, so then I travelled with the back doors shut and front top door open (I know not ideal) but just local trips and she was fine. I felt that was dangerous so had two windows installed in the top front panels hoping she would have more to see and face ahead and not turn round... took her out today, back doors open, new windows in... slowed down to pass a horse and a few seconds after passing the horse she turned round in the trailer! I've also got a mirror in the trailer in the hope of keeping her company which makes no difference 🙄 ... anyone else had this problem.

She is x tied with quick release safety ties, makes no difference if these are lead ropes or bungees, she pulls one side then swings her head until the other breaks.

You must travel her with a breast bar otherwise it is very dangerous as she will fly forward if you have to break suddenly. I couldn't really tell from your post if you were using one.

Tie her with something more secure so she cannot turn around, as someone above said you can get chains with plastic moulding over them. If you don't want to do that and its a big problem for you why don't your change your trailer for a rear facing one? She obviously prefers this way of travel, now don't get me wrong im not saying buy a brand new one. Just a thought.

She's tied with bungees? That would seem a bit daft to me for something that is going to try and move about, surely you would want to secure the front end?

OP has said horse is travelled with full width breast bars.

If she doesn't do it when the back doors are shut, why not just travel her with them shut? Are your windows able to open? Sounds like she just wants to face to where the air is coming in rather preferring rear facing per se.

Alternatively switch trailer for a Bateson with doors instead of ramp. They are much higher and just have a small opening at top. Lovely light cool trailers.

OP has gone rather quiet.

Why do you travel with the rear top doors open if that triggers her to turn round? Presumably the front windows you had installed are sliding windows, as in the 505/510 Classic trailers? If so, keep them open on the sliders, open the roof ventilator, shut the rear top doors and crack on. (I have to do just this with the diva mare in my 510 classic).
