Turnout boots- any suggestions?

to last equilibrium hardy chaps

the neoprene is thicker than all the others we have had and doesnt deteriorate.

We have also had derby houses version and the sportabac ones but they were horse wrecked pretty quickly and the neoprene fell apart after not very long less than one winter anyway. one pair of the equilibriums are 2 years old now and still doing strong so worth the extra money IMO.

ah cool thanks for that. Was comparing those to all the others.

What about the normal equilibrium turnout chaps? I know they are designed for mud fever rather than leg protection but didn't know if they worked for both?

Yup, the equilibrium ones for quality. The only thing I don't like is that the mud gets up underneath the bottom end and stays trapped there. So saying, mine are going on the Dizzy one because she's always getting bashed/banged/cut lower legs! It's either that or some cheap tendon boots.

same as our blonde one mrs M, must be something to do with the manes

sorry db not used the other ones. yup the mud gets up a bit just on the heel bulbs as they flare at the bottom rather than fitting tight.

Sizing. Hm. Can't remember what size I have... I bought them for Tiggy (four year old 15.2hh IDxTB), but they've been on a 15hh cob (too small round the leg, too long on the leg). Will be trying them on the Dizzy idiot tomorrow!

I have the equilibrium hardy chaps and i think they are fabby.
i have the Size 2 on fronts and size 3 on backs. They go on my 14.2 arab x and 15hh TB. The only thing i would say is i dont know how wide they would be on something with bone, but on my boys skinny legs they do up quite far so dont let it put you off that he wears that size!!
If that makes any sense at all :S

I'm fine Mrs M - thinking these will be just the job for an overly blinghy, white legged, prone to mud fever, monster who delights in pulling shoes with general hooning!

But cannot for the life of me work out sizing. Are the stable chaps any good for keeping white stockings clean or are the thermatex ones better?

If pulling shoes, stick some large over-reach boots on (says she, who's wishing she had - the Dizz has lost a front shoe

).

There is a sizing chart somewhere for the Equilibrium boots - you have to make sure they fit really close or they're pointless from the mud fever point of view

I'm looking at stable chap thingies for the Dizzy one, to try and fix her Norah Batty legs!

If you go for stable boots go for ones with the 'shiney' outer otherwise everythiong sticks to them. I have only witnessed the equilibrium ones and they are shaped nicely and seem to stay put well

Please be careful with turnout socks/boots, I brought them for 2 of my horses to try and stop them getting mud fever, instead of getting mud fever they got celulitous in their front legs, the vet told me to stop using them.
