My horse keeps injuring himself in the field because he does a skidding stop at the fence.I have bought some turnout boots to support his legs at the moment because he has just tweaked his tendon possibly tore a few fibres.Hes on restricted turnout and box rest as per vet but if I keep them on do you think they weaken the legs long term. Its difficult to know what to do if they support him it might stop future injuries but if they weaken the tendons from over support it wont do him any good either.Does anyone else use them and what for thanks all

mine is turned out in premier equine air cooled event boots, to stop him knocking and cutting himself. they do the job and def keep the legs cooler than other boots. with regards to support, no boot or bandage can really support the horses leg and the internal structures of the leg. there was a vet report done once looking into support that boots etc offered, and appart from a fancy dalmar boot, nothing offered support. hope your boy gets better soon, and his legs recover, but not sure what to suggest for your boots etc

I bought the shires breathable with pastern wrap.Ill keep them on for now to stop the knocks and keep my fingers crossed he doesnt keep skidding about once he has full turnout .Perhaps he will settle down again once I can excercise him again hes had a really bad year. Thanks at least I know they wont weaken his legs.
