Hi,

I was wondering if anybody has experience with different brands of turnout boots?

My mare was severely lame two years ago (long story). Nobody thought she will ever survive this, but she did and even came completely sound again. However, mud in the winter seems to cause a problem as she is very sensitive on her leg to touch and cold water ever since she got lame and had two surgeries on this leg. Warmth seems to help and cold water makes her immediately uncomfortable. She is turn out most of the year as she needs to keep moving plus she does not like being in stables. So I am looking for a way to keep her leg warm but not too hot and dry.

The turnout boots need to reach her hoof. Does anybody recommend a certain brand?

:)

I *believe* that most companies that make turn out boots only recomend that you leave them on for no longer than 12 hours a day as they can cause damage to the horses legs if left on too long. So if your mare is living out 24/7 they might not be the best option unless she can come in at night?

Hey,
I know that they should only be on for 12 hours. She lives out 24/7 at the moment and will stay out as she needs to move, but I was just gonna put them on during the day or during the night when it is raining and cold. She is fine if it is dry and cold, it is just the rain which causes problems and mud. But the field she is in is very dry and only a tiny bit of mud at the gate, so I really am looking for a good turnout boot I can use when it is raining. I always check the weather forcast anyway, so I can decide depending on when it is raining most to put them on during the night or the day and take them off after a few hours ;)
