Hi guys;

Im looking to buy a set of turnout boots, that are good quality and that don't go soggy in the rain and fall down.

There for my girl who really feels the cold and wet so is struggling at the minute - unfortunately she also lives to go in her field so leaving her in isn't much of an option as I'm already bringing in earlier than she would like!
Price isn't too important as long as they are good quality and last!

I used Sportabac boots. You do need several pairs, one on, one in the washing machine and one drying.

Do not be tempted to put them on anything but bone dry legs and make sure once fitted they are well over the pastern to prevent wicking up of moisture. Mine are still good and have done many years of use.
 
Thank you - I will look at those. She wears stables boots so her legs are also dry in the morning - have you found that they are more likely to get mud fever etc - we don't have much mud in our field tbf just around the gate way.
 
I use the same ones, I think they are marketed as Castle these days. I really like them. My friend has more expensive ones for her boy, but the posh ones get really heavy when wet, take longer to dry (controlled experiment performed on my radiator at home!) and also don't seem to fit as well.
I put keratex powder underneath, always make sure both legs and turnout boots are clean and bone dry and, touch wood, they have kept mud fever away since I bought them in September.
Also, you need to put them on as tightly as you can to stop the mud getting up underneath.
 
I can highly recommend "The Husk" range they are fairly new but fab boots and bandages, they are amazingly shock absorbent due to their honeycomb design so great for exercise and turnout and have removable liners so make for easy washing, they don't allow mud in so really work to prevent mud fever issues. They also don't allow over heating so horses legs stay just the right temperature. Well worth a look, there's a Facebook group for them or just google it.
