Woudl love some advice.

I'm about to take my Welsh D for his first (and my first) dressage outing. We're doing an Intro (if I can remember the darn thing).

I have a tweed jacket etc. This might sound a stupid question but is he expected to be plaited, even though he is a native, or can he go "au naturel"? Also, I presume that bandages are not required?

If it makes any difference, we're doing out outing at a local competition venue.

Thank you - Iced coffee on offer :D

Tweed jacket will be fine, he can be natural as he is a native breed, nothing should be on their legs although you can warm up in bandages or boots just remember to remove them before you start your test.

I do lots of dressage with my welsh D, as he is a native, always mane down but as neat and tidy as possible.
Bless him, we warm up with all the big dressage beasties with their lovely neat tight plaits but as long as you're both well turned out and neat and tidy, you'll be fine.
Best of luck, smile and ENJOY ;)

Thanks for such a quick and helpful response. Saves me having to plait and bandage then!! I can concentrate on just getting incredibly nervous instead :D

Thank you! He doesn't necessarily "do" neat and tidy, mane-wise, so will probably have to resort to copious amounts of hairspray

Try not to be too nervous, it's meant to be fun:D If you are worried about forgetting your test you can have a caller which can help with the nerves.

Neat and tidy is order of the day! Nothing on their legs at all for the actual comp. Oooh and Pledge is the thing for making mane and tails silky smooth and tangle free....i kid you not....just bog standard pledge furniture polish:D works absolute miracles!

Good luck and enjoy!!:)
