Wondering if anyone can help me out, I'm looking for a turnout hood for a clipped horse whose rugs don't have attachments for neck rugs. I also don't want to use neck rugs because I've heard they rub out mane and with her sweet itch it's very important to not cause unnecessary hair loss! I've seen the lycra ones online but because they are so close fitting I'm worried about mane loss, I also am not keen on the ones with faces as I've heard several horror stories with those. I don't know if I've just imagined it but I could have sworn I once saw one that had elastic around the throat to hold it on, then it was quite loose and "puffy" around the neck. So if anyone has any suggestions it would be very much appreciated!

I have used snuggy hoods on my Arabs without a problem of losing mane or rubs, they are not too close fitting and have elastic around the top, I have zip up ones but you can get pull on one's.

I think you're talking about the Premier Equine hoods - they're tight around the throat and puffy around the neck.
I'd also recommend a headless turnout hood from Snuggy Hoods - that's what we use for our cob with a huge mane, and had no issues.

We're using a 'Horze hood' at the moment. It's Lycra but I've not noticed any mane loss, however it's not on 24/7. We've just been using it for turn out and some overnights when it's below 5C.

i just purchased a zip up snuggy hood.
My boy is half clipped and most of his rugs dont have necks.
What a brilliant idea now all of his rugs can become combo rugs when its super cold and wet :D .... wish id know about them sooner
