mine is mixed, we have sheep fencing with posts, hedges & tape to section off, we also have 2 summer fields which are about 10 acres each but we also have smaller paddocks for fatties to go in
ours is all year round unless the weather takes a really bad turn like last year it was the first time it ever flooded! but we have 3 fields one 50 acre that we get haylage off but is grazed in the winter and 3 small ones that we rotate in the summer
Combination of electric, wire and hedge.
About 3 acres in total
2 ponies - both ours
The winter field is right outside the stables and the other two are probably less than 100m.

We keep them privately so we can do what we like. I used to be at a livery yard and the reason we left was the turnout - during the winter there was no turnout or 2hrs limited turnout most days - the yard was too far to go to 3 times a day and Shadow doesn't like being caught if she hasn't been out long. Where we are now doesn't have a school but it wasn't fair to keep her in 24/7.
our field is about 15acres shared by 7 horses though one has just gone of to stud and another 2, spend half there life climbing over the fence into the next field!
The fencing is mixed with sheep neting one the side that is connected to the farmers field and the quarry, a wall thats connected to another field, and then post and rail at the bottom just to confuse you
there all year TO if wanted
I like the turnout as its a big field for them all to run around in but at the top of the field by the gates theres alot of junk that needs clearing or fencing off! luckily as the field is so big they are rarely in that area and only come there at coming in time in winter.
Other apect i dont like is thats its on a verticle hill and it knackers you! lol
We now have two sets of fields. Winter ones are five mins walk down the road leading two horses (don't know how far in distance though). It's mostly plain wire fencing, some barbed wire, and we divide the fields with electric tape. It's about 8 acres in all splint unevenly into 8 fields. Ours usually go out in pairs unless there is a reason not to, but never more than pairs as that's how we bring in and do everything, we are paired up with another livery and help eachother out. We have some turnout every day unless the weather is really foul, about 5 hours in the day in winter.
Summer fields are just being fenced off as they're new, it's about 8 acres again total split into smaller fields. They're behind the stable yard but we have to walk all the way round the yard and the school to get there, and then back up the track, so again about 4/5 mins walk but no road this time. In these fields they're out at night from 7pm-7am. We're hoping YO is going to be more flexible about these fields as they are so lush, hopefully for example if I need to turn my lame horse away for a few months she can go out 24/7 as she's only out the back and can be checked on easily. Can't really see it happening though but we are still hoping!
Overall my turnout is ok, but I think we need to be more flexible in winter as it's very hard to get up there at 1pm every day to bring in especially if both owners work. Also there is always a lack of grass in winter and then far too much in summer (especially as we have new fields which are lush, YO's horse came in with a digital pulse the other morning and had to stay in the next night in case he pigged himself again and got lami). But overall my YO does her best for us which is all we can ask really!
Our fencing is mixed, three sides is hedges, one side barbed wire. The barbed wire is the only problem i probably have with the turnout. There's plenty of room for all of the boys, the herd get on very well, its about 20 paces from my stable, we have all year turn out and the fields are kept in as best nick as possible!
Our fencing is mixed - hedges, wire, sheep netting & electric.I put electric because I bought electric fencing to do the field mine are in because otherwise Jim cribs & gets his shoes caught in the netting.
Herd sizes tend to vary depending on the field they're in, as does how far we have to walk. Luckily mine both live in the fatties field which is very very close to the yard - LU is there because he's fat but Jim is there because it's close & he can be unreliable to lead.
I'm not happy with some of the fencing though my field is ok now & ragwort is a problem despite constant pulling.
Our field is fenced with wire but we split in up with electric. Horses are out 24/7 all year round and we have to walk about 20m from the stables to the paddocks.
Mine has a mixture of fencing. The field for three is about 13 acres, but I've cut it down to about 1.5 acres for during the day, and they have about 9 acres overnight. Only 2 are in the paddock during the day. I'm happy with the grazing, but there's just too much grass for the horses, even with 50 ewes with a couple of lambs each. Also the sheep poo everywhere
our field is hedge/post & rail edged with elec tape to split it off. we have 24/7 turnout in the summer from May until end of Oct & 1/2 day turnout during the winter in a separate set of 2/3 smaller paddocks.
currently our groups are split up, the fat ponies (x3) are in the field that doesn't have knee high grass, although still a good covering at night, with mainly hedge and barbed wire fencing, we rent it so no option here. Then at day they're in the post and rail starvation paddock with a little hay.
The 2 big eventers are out on very lush grass (as both need as much as they can get) with post and rail fencing on 3 sides and a ditch and barbed wire on the other.
IT has very little shelter so put them all in the ponies field yesterday, and you guessed it..big knee on my eventer...
Well currently our turnout is poor. Barbed fence on 2 sides and post and rail on 2 sides. 4 horses in less than an acre!!! Also restricted to 8am-3pm turnout max.
So I am moving to a place that has:
* Post and rail (yay)
* 24/7 tunrout winter and summer (yay)
* only have to walk 5 metres from car (yay)
* 2 acres for 2 horses sharing (yay)
24/7 turnout all year
5 in field
mixture of post and rail and stock fencing
2 summer field and 1 winter
about 2 acres per field
lush grass
more than happy
This is what is avaulable to our group of 5, there are other grass liveries
My horses are kept at my parents farm. The fensing is Barbed wire but with electric fense in front of it * cant have post and railing as my parents horse sits on it!* My dads cob is on it's own in starvation and my two horses are out together. Altogether I think I have 5 acres of grazing for the three horses as slowly over the years parents have fenced sections off here and there for gardens and orchards ect! Our grass is very rich here so they are strictly strip grazed.
