I usually bring my liveries in when the clocks change, the owners ride after school/ work so it is easier to keep them in as they may be too warm to put straight out rugged and I am not going to be turning out late in the dark. They are usually clipped about the same time so it is easy to cool down and they can be worked properly without worrying.
If the weather is not too wet, I will leave mine until as late as possible, well into December if I can.
ours are stabled at night and out during the day all year round, but at my old yard, we brought the horses in from 24/7 turnout to stabled at night when the grazing became poor, this was usually end of October, but it really depended on the grass. (not really sure why this was the deciding factor but I guess it was because the fields were a little way away from the yard so feeding hay to 15 odd horses was a pain when they were out 24/7!)
It depends on the weather. I like to leave them out if I can until after Guy Fawkes night, however if it is vile then they would have to come in earlier. As a general rule though 2nd week November
Bring in at night when she wants to - yard allows 24/7 all year but she chooses to come in from approx mid Dec, depends on weather.
When I say chooses I really mean it, I bring her in to ride and she will start to refuse to leave her stable when I try to turn her back out. One year I got her off the yard and she span and trotted back in to stable (embarrassing much!) We don't have great grazing over winter and I think she prefers to have hay.
Bring in during the day mid April-ish, I judge it by the grass growth. But she usually lives out for a few months each year too.
Normally they are out 24/7 until my tb starts loosing weight but i just sold him so i have fatty in from about 5 or 6 now to limit his feed intake. In the dead of winter he will be out 24/7 unless its really wet, i can't afford to loose more field condition!
The yard I am on has no rules to when they come in. We try leaving our boys at as long as poss if not all year, but they normaly come in for a couple of months. Others on the yard also leave out as long as poss & some don't bring in at all.
Varies each year, but as a general rule, they start coming in around the beginning of October. One year it was the end of August as the weather was so foul. It also depends on the weather when they start staying out 24/7. For a while when they come in at night, they go out in the paddocks all day, but when it gets really wet, they start to go out in the sand turnout in 3 hour shifts.
I usuaolly wait until after Guy Fawkes night as well - I'd prefer him to run about a bit in the field and see whats going on than kick a brick stable and end up with some serious damage!
Depends on weather really. Usually December. I start haying in the field before then. But from mid November, again dependent on weather, I get my stables ready for the night & bring in at 6ish. I leave my oldies door open, if she settles & tucks into her hay, they start staying in. If she doesn't & starts taking herself to the field, I rug & put out with hay. And daughters pony just wants to be wherever mine is.
