Turnout Rug Recommendations

Hi im new here, have lurked for a long time, but finally decided to become a member.

I need your advice please on turnout rugs for my boy, hes 14.2" cobbish type and i want a couple of decent turnout rugs for winter, all the rugs he has at the moment are useless non of them stay where they should despite adjusting all the straps, they all seem to head tailwards and he ends up with a really nice off the shoulder number as in the chest straps always seem too loose so the rug slides back.

What i want is a nicely fitting rug, that will not rub his mane away is waterproof and most importantly STAYS PUT!

I have aways found Horseware rugs good quality. The best ones are of course Rambo and Rhino, but I have just washed and reproofed an Amigo one I have had for 2 seasons. The buckles do not break and for the quality great value .

My boy is very similar to yours and I have a lw castle rug for him at the moment. I think it fits fine, plenty of room for his chest on the loosest clip (could go wider as buckles and straps too) and doesn't seem to slip back that much.

I'm just about to get an Axion medium weight for him for the winter, Kallibear recommends them and she has cobby types too so I'll let you know how that one suits him

I don't think it slides to far back on his shoulders, but you should be able to tell if it's suitable from those

Horseware if your feeling plush.
quite at lot rugs come in cob makes.
My mums hairy cob thing finds weatherbeeta turnouts ok but not stable rugs, she also incredible hulks out of fleece rugs

Whether Rambo or Rhino - they are all fantastic. Expensive yes - but worth every penny.

Thanks for the pics Kub, they look a great fit! seem to sit higher up on the under the underside of the neck, if that makes sense which is what i think my boy needs, as the ones he has at the moment all seem a tad low!

Have heard good reviews about the Horseware rugs, and if i can get one at a reasonable price i will, however think i'll be having a mooch round for some of these Axion & Castle Rugs, as he will soon need a l/w turnout.
