Hi, not sure if this rug exsists, but im thinking a turnout rug that has a bit that goes under the belly would be fab- bit like the fly rugs do.

so does this rug exist- if so what make?

my h/w cob hoolies round and splashes so much mud under his belly when turned out. for a horse that lives out pretty much 24/7 makes grooming to ride a lengthy process!!

T.I.A:)

Spooky! I was just thinking this today! Great minds eh?! :)

The Weatherbeeta Taka Contour wrapped around the belly.

They sometimes come up on Ebay but they did a stable rug version too, so make sure that you are getting the turnout.

ETA. New version of this rug.

I think Fal do an underrug with an attachable waterproof belly piece (not sure whether you can attach this to an actual turnout rug though) - which you use then under a Fal (or possiby another make???) turnout rug.

They did the belly pieces in matching colours to their turnout rugs I remember.

I have a taka contour as pictured above except mine is blue and silver. The flap bit is quite good but I guess it wasn't that popular as it doesn't appear to be included in the later versions. You still see them on eBay but check it's the taka contour and not just a taka.

I have a Taka with a very wide belly piece; not actually sure what exact model it is as it's an old one from ebay but it's extremely heavy and well made; just a shame the lining needs a make over as that's likely to fall to pieces if I cleaned it but I thought I'd just use a light sheet under it instead of binning it. If a 6'3" is any good you can have it for the postage.

The new weatherbeeta turnout rug with the detachable neck and extra linings has a belly wrap on it, its about £240 though I think. Horze do a stable rug with a detachable belly pad.
I don't know why more rugs don't have them! :-)

Maesfen I would be interested in the rug if its still going? Got to get a very hair belly cleaned and ready for clip on Sunday on a messy cob that's out in mud 24/7.

Quite the challenge!

i saw this thread and ordered a cosy tum, its arrived and i have tried it on, seems to fit nicely and the tummy bit fits well on 2 different shaped horses, quite impressed, going to see how it goes on in the endurance department then order a no fill one if its ok.
