Need to go out shopping for a new medium weight rug. I know what I'm looking for but am just wondering about getting a 600d or 1200d. I understand the denier refers to the density of the outer, but the both rugs should be just as waterproof as the other. Which one would you get?

You need to take into account what material the rug is made from too. So a 1000d nylon rug is better IME than a 1200d polyester rug. If you are comparing two rugs made from the same material, then the higher denier is better.

1680D Premier Equine 'Buster' rug :)
Road tested on rug-thug, still alive to live another winter & more :)
Get the Trio & you can get the liner too & hood if required.

No, I dont work for them, just think their service is great & the product bloody good

Totally agree with this! although re the orignal question never had a 600D last more than 6 months and that is without them even being ripped or worn regularly, complete waste of time.

I look for 1000d minimum with my boy, he destroyed (or rather his field mate destroyed!) 2 x 600d turnouts in two days, total waste of money in our case - we're now in premier equine as our main rug and faring much better!

1200D every time. IME(&that of all the other owners on our yard!),they are def more waterproof than 600D's (as well as being tougher, obviously.) We are getting some seriously heavy rainfall in these last few years and only a 1200D will stand up to it IMO:-/

Agree with the above, if you have a rug wrecker you definitely need a 1200D, and if you don't have a rug wrecker I'd suggest you really want a 1200D because they're much more hardwearing. ;)
