turnout rugs - denier?

Hi, before I buy my new winter rug, what experience have people got with different amounts of denier? Looking at a turnout with 600 but some are offered with 1200, what will be the difference for everyday use? Ta
 
I've always gone for a higher dernier like the 1200. I think most rambos etc have this and they definatly seem more robust.

Definitely higher denier, although it's a shame there aren't that many in mediumweight, which is what I need ie 150-220g maximum fill. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great.
 
Oh, I definately need the higher spec then. Any recommendations that don't break the bank? Can't afford Rambo even though I have an old one that I would not part with but it has no neck cover or attachments and I like my girl nice and snug in the winter.
 
There are quite a few new Shires Typhoon rugs on ebay at the moment at good prices. They are high denier and there is a full neck version. GFS also did a lovely, tough turnout rug. :)

Keep an eye on ebay I've bought all my horseware rugs from there for less than it would cost to get a new cheaper rug. They keep going for years as they're such good quality
 
One of my horses has a tendency to pull at the other horses rugs just over the quarters. He goes through the 600 rugs like butter, the 1200 resist for a few days but the 1680 survive almost a winter!!!
