Could anyone tell me what the best colour tweed jacket would be for me to wear with Bert?

Looking for something all purpose....showing/sj etc.

Bert is a Roan appaloosa, looks cream with gingery wiskers and roany bits, brown spots on his butt.

Thanks in advance

I have a bluey/ grey hacking jacket, am going to wear that on my boy as he is dapple grey. Think maybe that colour wuld suit bert too.

I have a blue tweed too as I think it matches my dapple grey. It's fine for local showing, but for county I've been advised blue/grey isn't acceptable really.

I've now got to invest in a green one!!

Thanks, I was thinking bluey grey as it is my preference but wasn't sure if I might need something warmer in colour due to his gingerness that spouts from odd places

I saw a lovely bluey grey one at saddlers and it was very resonable so i think i might try it and see.

There are jacket threads in comp riders but the searh facility doesn't find them for me!!!

Seriously though, I love my blue tweed, but FMM the resident showing guru advised me to go for brown or green for county showing.

I'm trying to decide at this moment which of the dark greeny tweeds to go for from AJ - if you ring them they will send you a swatch of the materials available. They have a lovely dark herringbone but I am not sure if it will be too plain when I see the whole jacket. They also have a nice dark green with red overcheck. A blue tweed does not always look great on a grey. They come up a bit wishy washy. If you look at hack classes where ladies wear navy jackets, you can see how much nicer the dark jacket looks. The dark green looks good on virtually every colour horse - so if you have a multiple coloured one, then that may be the safest choice!

I saw this one on a website today - if the overstripe really is that pink, then you will certainly stand out from everyone else!!!! Not to my taste, but if anyone is brave enough to buy it, do let us see what it looks like!

I personally think that a darker green will look better on your chestnut, though not sure the one shown above will with the red checks?

I was not suggesting anyone buy the one shown in my previous post!!!
I am sticking to my dark green - just not sure about the dull red overcheck - had that one before and it looked very smart. However, it was a size too large and I sold it on ebay.

A friend of mine has kindly said it was fine for me to show her "before" and "after" pics. The first is of her blue tweed days, and the second in her green tweed days.

So blue jacket, black hat, black chin strap, no gloves, white shirt ... this was in 2005.

This year - what a difference! Lemon shirt, green jacket, gloves, navy hat with leather harness (saddle a good bit further back!) - I think she looks great!
