Hi,

Finally think Mr P is ready for his dressage debut (walk trot test counts!!!)

For some reason the jacket I have had since I was 13 no longer fits (maybe not the biggest shock!!!) and now I cant decided what I fancy!!

I hope to be BD'ing after Christmas (start at the bottom and attempt to bash my way up a level or 2) so need to stay within the dress rules....

Who prefers what?

I do it for fun and only do unaffiliated low level, plus I have hairy horses so use my tweed - smart and suits the type of beasties I have and saves having to have multiple jackets. Ditto for SJ.

If I was doing higher level then I would opt for black.

I've done some writing, and know some BD judges that don't like to see black jackets at the lower levels. Personally I prefer tweed, but only because it looks better on me - black makes me look awful.

I am leaning towards a nice tweed with pale canary (is that even a colour) jodhpurs.... buying all the show stuff is a minefield!! I miss the pony club days when parents just appeared with the appropriate things and birthday/ christmas presents!!

Decisions are not my forte!!!

Navy is also an option. Black, tweed and navy are all fine for BD. I do a lot of writing and have NEVER heard a judge comment that they prefer a particular colour.

Hi,

I do like navy but have a black hat (that is rather ancient but can't bear to upgrade it we have been through so much together *sniff*).

Also, mum aquired me a rather lovely pair of light brown/ tan long Regent boots. Will I be able to utilise these without looking to novicey or will I have to save these for showing on the off chance that his legs heel after the didn't quite make the gate incident.

(believe or not I'm not a complete beginner just the first time I've had to fend for myself... and dont want to let Mr P down as he does look rather handsome when he is turned out properly!!!)

Put a navy hat on your christmas list.

I would personally go with Tweed, I really don't like the look of black, it looks inappropriate at lower levels for some reason!

Also, hate to say it but I would get some black boots on your xmas list too! I have seen people wear brown in showing but it REALLY isn;t correct. Not sure what dressage peeps think of it?

Hi,

I have black boots also but the tan ones are really nice (and a bit different) the tweed I've seen and like the look of has a tan running through it so would tie together?

How on earth did M & D cope with the decisions for all those years!!!

Great.. sounds like its got to be tweed (which I prefer!!!)

Can anyone recommend a nice one for around £100?? Shires do a lovely one with a bit of a velvet collar as well

I LOVE my Blue tweed jacket. It has a black collar and i plan on adding some white binding and new buttons.
But for me, Blue tweed all the way. I think a Black show jacket suits WB's, or Black horses.
