Tweed show jacket or navy/black?

I'm currently in the process of buying a new pony (going to view one this weekend which could be the one if she is true to the advert!) and plan to get into the world of pony club & eventing. I've outgrown my current show jacket due to not showing for months, and I am looking into a new one. I might do the odd hunt depending on what I feel like, but I'll let it happen as is happens!
Would I be better with tweed or navy/black? And if I got a navy/ black show jacket, would I be able to have coloured accents (e.i. Light blue Collar/ accents on pockets)? I'm guessing ties are a big no no with tweed jackets, but what colour stock would I wear for pony club, shows, etc

Tweed is more versatile especially if you are a PC member and want to take part in a variety of activities, if you did get a navy, never black, then PC rules may frown upon accents if too obvious, ties are fine with tweed and correct for showing but normally a coloured stock will be worn for dressage/ eventing etc. any sensible colour is fine and I think the PC have their own coloured one now, most people will have one in a colour that goes with the tweed.

Thank you! I usually go black, but I'll definitely take that into consideration next time! Can you just wear a white shirt with tweed as well or does it have to be coloured? (I've never used a tweed jacket before!)

I do Pony Club in Ireland and have never had anyone comment on my jacket, which has white accents on the collar and pockets (though I did mean to get the pockets chopped off, I haven't got around to it) I've worn it eventing, show jumping, combined training, all in different areas, and qualified for three PC championships in it. My personal instructor is also a Senior examiner and she's never said anything on it to me. I wear it with a plain white stock, just because it never occurred to me I could get it in another colour!

However my area is probably less posh and traditional than a lot in more popular 'pony club' areas in the south of ireland, or indeed in the Uk, and I don't think anyone wears tweed in my area anymore. I'm also a blow in and only started last year, so maybe everyone looks at me as this flashy\gaudy showjumper that didn't read the rule book ahahaha

I'd also get a tweed! They can be used with ties, if I'm showing or sometimes I wear a tie with tweed. Eventing/dressage I would wear a stock. Only a coloured/patterned stock should be worn with tweeds, never a white one! And never white jods :)

If you do want black/navy then get a navy, it's more traditional for women and imo looks smarter than black! It should be worn with a white or cream stock.

You aren't meant to wear a white shirt with a tweed, but I do - I wear the pippa funnel type t-shirts which are navy but have a white stock bib on the top half :) for showing though I try to wear a non-white shirt/stock shirt. My "off white" shirt is a white shirt that's been washed with a yellow duster :p

I think tweed is more versatile for lower levels. And if you aren't looking to spend a fortune it often looks a lot smarter than a cheap black/navy jacket.
I would also say navy if you're female and black for males

Considering a tweed a lot more now! I used to think tweeds looked a bit… off a couple of years ago haha! One thing that would stand in the way is the increase in price between the navy ones or the black ones 😳 But I would be looking for a jacket for everything really so tweed could be the way to go!

Another question, as I think I've found the "type" of show jacket, but now it's for the colour of tweed!

Looking at this one, it looks smart!

My daughters are in PC and in our branch there are occasions when the dress code is specifically tweed.

We used to show M&M so were a bit surprised to be told to wear white shirts for PC with tweed ( always wore cream/yellow). I think it looks odd with tweed but hey ho!

PC do have own stocks in PC colours.

The Shires jacket is a good all rounder - colour would depend on what colour pony you buy :D

I had one of those jackets, it looked really smart. I had the colour that the blonde haired girl is wearing (top row right hand pic)
