. . . before anyone moans about this thread being in the wrong place, I was a spectator, not competing . . . so figured it should be in here rather than in CR
.
Right . . . went to Mattingley on Sunday because several of our friends were competing and had a lovely (if rather wet) day. Most of our friends acquitted themselves well . . . all but one completed (she retired in the showjumping) and all had fun. We met some lovely people, including a fabulously friendly woman riding a drool-inducing coloured chunk of a horse called O'Donnell's Boy (Donny) . . . if his rather lovely owner is on here, please put him a large box and send him to me ASAP.
So . . . some pics of two of my yardmates doing their thing . . . both horses are 17 and still full of beans . . . the grey is Bobby and the bay is Billy . . . Bobby is teeny and Billy is huge . . . and they are both wonderful.

And Tweseldown yesterday . . . went with two horsey friends, my daughter and one of her friends . . . the weather was beautiful and we saw some amazing horses and riders. The highlight for my friend Ingie was being asked by an owner of one of Oli Townend's horses to put it's cooler rug on . . . almost had to give her smelling salts afterwards - don't have a picture of that but do have a pic of her with two of his five horses there. Really enjoyed watching Tina Cook, Lucinda Fredricks, Paul Tapner and Oli Townend showjump and go round the xc course.
Happened to be at the water when Tina Cook was walking the Intermediate course and had a massive conflab with the course builders . . . she ended up getting a long/alternate route added and, FWIW, I think she was right . . . the fence was not in context with the rest of the course and it caught a few out. Saw several dunkings, but no'one was seriously hurt . . . and Oli T pulled a rather large rabbit out of a hat when his horse stumbled and he ended up right up its neck and hanging off the side - how he righted himself and rebalanced the horse in time to jump the skinny brush out of the water I don't know . . .
