Yawn, not long been back..
5:30 start this morning, dragged pony in from field, already plaited - thankfully wasn too grubby and only one plaite had been mouled by Snoopy during the night
smirk.gif

Set off just after 7am and arrived just before 9am so had plenty of time to go and walk the course.
Met up with Bandit and we walked the course together, whilst mother went and took sleepy bones for a nibble at grass.
The course was nice, a few changes from last year improvement at fence 1 and some nice flowing bits, a double of hedges at 4 which some missed out completely, the sunken road which is always in the PN a couple of angled logs, double of spooky houses but just a run through both waters.
All very much within in the big mans capabilities, although two fences i think they could have done with out they were bearly knee height, then the next fence was a fair size
confused.gif

Anyway, arrive back and get changed, warm the big man up, kept everything to a minimum, the ground had a good covering of grass, and we had no studs so didnt want to push it.
Just before we went in a loose horse galloped flat out from the SJ over the fencing and up through the dressage, this was IDEAL for me, woke Mr Snoozy up brilliantly, although probably some could have done with out it
grin.gif

So we went in, he did a very nice test, bar a complete blip on my part during the walk - that will teach me to pay more attention and run the test the day before and not the night before
smirk.gif
so lost two marks.
The best score at the time was 29 but that combi had been E in the SJing. We came away with 30.5

Had an hour to wait before our time, they were running late, however he warmed up well, and Ben&Jerrys kindly did my fences.
The SJing had caused mayhem all day but Winston did me proud and popped round clear - this time putting us into the lead YAY.
Only 30 mins, but obvioulsy late from the SJing we took our time getting ready for the xc as it was the hottest part of the day. Winston looked exhausted lol anyway ambled down and it was like swtiching a switch, he woke up and knew what the next bit was all about (bear in mind he hasnt been eventing since August last year).
Spotted Saf, so got chatting, completely ignoring the starter who was shouting for me to hurry up - oops lol
Off into the start gate and we were off, took it easy over the first and second but then he was off, belted up the hill spooked and farted at the spectators zoomed down the hill, over fence 3 - flying to fence 4 and hurdled the hedges well and again over fence 5 the hedge ditch. Over the tiny corner nicely bit of a combi wiht fence 7 which was hidden behind a tree, angled that but landed a bit dead the other side, pecked on landing and put in a HUGE buck, over the loud speaker the commenator said *well sat
grin.gif
* over the next tiny fence and belts back up the hill down again the other side handbreaks it to the sunken road, lovely over that and the next couple of fences.
Through the water and over the log the other side, down the drop and over the double of houses and took a flyer over the last. As we went through the finish he neighed and then promptly bucked
smirk.gif
someone was feeling a little TOO well today.

Hacked back very pleased, but knowing for some reason the timing was totally cocked up. No one was making the time.

Got back got 14 time, now i know we couldnt have gone much faster, but interesting to note only about 5 went inside the time today (mainly PC kids) i was sat next to one who beat me on a dressage score of 42, she was saying Ooo mummy i had the fastest time today, when mother replied yes but we werent pony racing today!!!
I honestly tell ya, if they went that fast at a BE event they would probably end up getting seriously told off!
Hey ho, ponio finished 6th
grin.gif
very hotly contested section, Section A the winner finished on 42 and 2nd place was on 50!!!!

Good drive home and hes now out in teh field telling his mates all about it. I thoroughly enjoyed today, weather was lovely and horse was smashing.

Thanks for reading.....

Thanks to B&J and Bandit
smile.gif

What a super day, sounds like you both just went and had soo much fun!! Sienna nearly bucked with me the other day - couldn't believe it!! must be something in the grass
shocked.gif
Though of course being a laydee she wouldn't ever fart
tongue.gif

Thanks guys.
Was nice to be back on the big man, and its even better when he produces a nice round like he did today.
Well I sat on snoopy last night YAY two weeks since i last did that. He was very good, a bit rushy but settled and did some nice work. Need to do stacks of work this week on him tho
crazy.gif

Think i will call trainer and see if he can come over in an evening this week, and then may pop over to Aston for another session with either Anne or Nigel and a quick run through the water and over a ditch - fudge the dressage i guess....

PMSL, well okay it was just a gentle parp
wink.gif

I think its def something at this time of year, he was the same last year too lol
Its nice to have the big man out doing stuff, will have to look for more at T i think, as the ground was brilliant.

Sounds like a fantastic day - impossible to go fast on this ground anyway!

Bet Winnie was thrilled to be out eventing.

Hunny, twesledown is like riding on a beach
smile.gif
its only the dressage thats on sandy/soil the sjing has grass but is mainly sand and the xc is just sand lol so no need for studs on the xc at all
smile.gif

How did Molly go yesterday??

Well done - Sounds like Winston trying to show who is top dog.
cool.gif

Glad to hear Snoopy is back in work.

I think you might be right. He bound into the lorry today! he was not being left behind lol

YAY for snoop, mother wasnt keen when i asked could i ride him tonight.

His back never reacted which was fabby, the spots are no bigger YAY.

Fingers x hes okay tomorrow, we had no napping either and i put him in a few situations to see if he would.
Prob saving it all up for tomorrow, but ive got all day lol

Im starting a rain dance tomorrow night, we are due rain monday and showers for the rest of the week, so fingers x for Withington.

Vxx

well done
smile.gif

i may have seen you, as i was warming up for the dressage when that loose horse came belting through...unfortunately it didnt do us any favours as hamlet started performing grand prix dressage movements from that point onwards!!

Well done for getting a clear sj round as i dont think i actually saw any - felt really sorry for those poor runners who were constantly putting the poles back up.

What did you think about the organisation of the day? Show jumping was running so late towards the end of the day, plus there were a lot of kiddies bombing round all over the place...putting us to shame!!

Molly was a million times better!

Dressage - I actually had some leg on and was able to ride her (instead of just sitting really quiet and hoping it was all going to be over before she jumped out of the arena). She scored 41 which was fair given her level of schooling.

SJ - MUCH better!! Faster than I would have liked to go, but not fighting and running into fences. Got a bit bullish late in the course and had 2 down, but whole thing was SO much better.

XC - another good clear. She has absoluely no fear! Breaks were better than last time.

Overall really pleased with her. Now she is calming down a bit I think we might be able to start moving forward.

How did you do H?
Someone will have had to buy a new bridle for that horse methinks
crazy.gif
he wasnt stopping for anyone! so lucking a lorry wasnt coming in!

The SJ did cause loads of problems, in one or two sections there were only 8 clears out of 42 starters!

The organisation wasnt bad, most of the crew were BE stewards i see regular. The waiting for results was a pain.
Bandit was scoring today, and she said it was a real insight into how things are run.
Everyone was very friendly, i only had to wait 15 minutes later for my SJing, but i heard it got later and later.
At times xc start were crying out for ppl to come down. I was pleased that they let you run even if you were Eliminated on the xc.
Wished the timing had been set right - the course followed virtually the identical PN route from last year just over new fences, but the time was 26 time penalties faster than they were at the BE event last year!
So had i not had my time Ps i would have been 2nd... hey ho im more than pleased with the run today, and the placing was just the icing on the cake
smile.gif

Well done fab result!!
Will you BE winstone this year?

[/ QUOTE ]

After todays run I would love to, with the ground as it is NO WAY.
TBH hes 11, has ringbone so im more than likely to stick to BSJA on a surface. Also i just couldnt afford to event him and snoopy together. Dad said today i think you should take him, but i just cant afford to. Would love too tho, he had a lovely time.
This ground is evil atm tho, unfortunately the ground isnt like it is at Tweseldown.

O well or the more time for snoopy!

By the time i got to the showjumping on hamlet, it was running about 45 mins behind! It did seem like a long course though, so perhaps they underestimated on that. I know what you mean about the xc though - didnt have to wait at all, wondering if lots of people didnt bother going xc, otherwise no idea where they all were!!

Had quite a bad day. Kiri did medioka dressage, then one down sj. Then xc, as we approached fence one she threw the biggest nap to date, and only god knows how i managed to stay on, as at one point i thought she was going over backwards plus i had lost my stirrup. We then had two refusals at the chair (fence 2) but sailed round rest of course. No idea how many time penalties, but i wasnt in a rush, plus napping took up about 5 minutes!

As for Hamlet, did ok dressage for him but 3 down sj - 2 of which he had perfect striding for so just wasnt picking up. However, noticed the last 3 fences he started getting a bit deep into and cat leaping. However, on to xc and popped over warm up fences ok to begin with, but then started jumping badly again and was going really deep into the fences. Went off start box and had to tap him into first fence as backing off, then he went to refuse fence 2 so i whacked him and the poor thing tried to jump but failed and literally fell over the jump, hence catapulting me off (he so nearly landed on me). He was then loose on the track and galloped off up the steep hill and towards the road
shocked.gif
but somehow ended up in the tradestands.

very worried tonight whats wrong, as he went the whole season last year with only one penalty xc (his first event). so not good day!!

OMG I nearly caught Hamlet! I was in the tradestands at the time.
Poor you
frown.gif
rotten luck.
Maybe H has picked up a bug or something, something similar happened at winstons last event in 05 at Charlton Park, he felt flat and didnt do at all well. I withdrew the xc took him home and he was running a temperature. Had a month in the field to recoup.

Poor lad, let us know how he is tomorrow.

As for K, you wont be the first or last to have a napping fit leaving the start box. Its hard for young or inexperienced or just bloody minded horses - warm up is so close horses really do hang there.
Good on ya for getting her round tho.

Vx

Hi V

You and Winny looked fantastic XC and great result
grin.gif
Well deserved.
Got a couple of photos if you are happy for me to post them, one in the warm up and one of the first fence
smile.gif

Hey Saf.
He felt better than he did to start with, he was so MR Snoozy when he arrived lol

Oo would love to see the pics please
smile.gif

Looking forward to tomorrow? its quite a strong PN run isnt it?

Hi

Here you go, click to enlarge

Needed to take this one a fraction later, love his ears "this way mum"
grin.gif

Yes looking forward to tomorrow, Course looks good, but not looking forward to having no brakes
smirk.gif
Hopefully will set us up for Aston, have not even been XC schooling so will try to go steady
ooo.gif

Naw fanks Saf, winston looks great
smile.gif
the less said about the rider the better...

HAHA no i hadnt even xc schooled either, we did go hunting this winter, last time boxing day, but havent done anything since Smiths Lawn last year.
Think thats why he wsa up for it, fed up with being in the field and listening to snoopys comp stories, he wanted to have a go lol

Saf will be on top form. Best of luck and thank you for the pics

Hey well done! Sounds like the big man hasn't forgotten a thing! Will he do more this season if we get some decent rain?

[/ QUOTE ]

Doubtful
frown.gif

Mainly due to funds. Could possibly get some day tickets for him... may even enter some of those Open Intro classes, that way the pressure is totally off for him. Im really worried about his ringbone, hes sound but can get footy on 10m circles now. May just keep him ticking over BSJA, hes registered and Addington hold a lot on a good surface, so that may be his best option atm.

Who knows what will happen next year. ATM i just dont want him doing too much, esp with the ground the worst ive know this time of year - its gonna be one hell of a long summer if this continues.

What a lovely day!! I bet W was sooo glad to be out again.
Well done both of you!

What sort of height were the classes, if there was a 2'9" sort of class my brother may have been there. I must ring him and ask.

Fiona
