Just a quick one as im knackered!!

Had a really positive fun day today - not a great result as results go but im more than chuffed

Had 3rd best dressage in my section with 31.5 which was a good start

Then had a 4 hour wait until my show jumping!! Hattie was quite spooky at the first fence but then flew and we went clear

XC was a BIG test - especially for my first ever PN on Hattsy! Mum said if she had known the course was going to be as testing as it was she would have thought twice about entering me

Anyway she absolutely flew round all the way to the water which i have to say was a HUGE ask especially for a horse who does not have water high on her list of "likes"!! She popped over the first house fine, poddled into the water and bless her she tried but she just didnt have the umph there to jump the second house between the two waters - she just ground to a halt in a heap on top of the house and basically said "im sooo so sorry Mum i just couldnt jump it from there - please give me a second chance", so represented her and she heaved herself over it and then poddled through the second water and luckily didnt make the same mistake at the skinny house out

then she just flew home

So mega pleased really - for the amount of effort she put in today she didnt deserve the stop but hey ho - now im confident this horse will make an eventer

So although nothing spectacular - am really really happy and cant wait for our next PN

think my Mum was just relieved we came back off the XC together!! she was very happy we were both still in one piece - and i was just amazed at how much Hattie has grown up over the past year! This is the horse who this time last year wouldnt jump 2foot cross country fences and took her 2hours to get into a tiny water jump!

was simply a mistake and accident on the part of both jockey and horse - Hattie is very def not to blame for the stop, whether i could have helped her out at all im not sure - im sure i could have done but just didnt think quick enough i guess

Urm well hopefully will get a PN run at Little Mattingley but am pretty sure i will get balloted from that so not sure

Well done, that is a very good dressage score, Don't be too upset over the result as it was yours and hers first PN.

Good luck with the IRF and may see you at Mattingley as we are fence judging.

looking back on it now im irritated i couldnt have done more to help her out - i think even though i encouraged her vocally and gave her a good kick i should have done more to get her over the fence on the first attempt - i guess i hadnt realised quite how close the 2nd house was to the exit of the first water and i had very little time to prepare her - but hey, we came back happy and in one piece and ready and raring for the next run so i cant be more pleased really

What this does show though is that it was a good idea to do at least the 4 intros i was planning to do on her because i def wouldnt have only had 1 minor blip if i hadnt picked up experience at intro on her

Well done-I saw you warming up for your dressage as doing the same at the same time! Looked like she was going really well. The xc was a bold course, not very technical but fences big and up to height. Well done for the water, it was pretty tricky, and how did you find the drop and small arrowhead after?

Agreed course was not particularly technical - apart from the water which although maybe not technical - was a HUGE ask as water complexes at PN level go. She jumped absolutely textbook through the drop to the arrowhead - muppet on top just pointed and kicked and she just sorted herself out and flew

I thought the combination at fence 5 was pretty tricky - very easy to glance off to the left - but again she jumped that really well too

I would have come over to say Hi, and did think about when I passed you on various occasions, but you were looking very focused and I thought i would save looking like an idiot for another day!
Had an OK day-38 dressage which was good considering it felt like the worst test I had ever ridden! 1 down sj which was my fault. XC - 1 refusal at the 1st fence which was a real bummer. I rode realy hard at it as we have a track record of firstfencititis but he just said no, so I circled, nearly taking out the fence judges as I went, re-presented, got over and off we went. Then was going really well but to have 2 refusals at fence 5 (was tricky!) so sj'd it, scrabbled over the chair, hit him hard twice after and we flew round the rest of the course!.....fab through the water etc. He just is so inexperienced and bolshy at the same time that its serious hard work. I think we are getting somewhere and Brightling next weekend so hopefully improve even more!

You should have come and said hello! i always look focused and a bit intense but i kind of zone out into competition mode when im warming up - i can switch it on and off though - there were quite a few friends of mine from pony club etc. warming up at the same time as me yesterday so one minute i was really focused and the next minute i was chatting away!! People from HHO always seem to spot Hattie and surprise me by saying hello

That first fence was causing quite a few problems, it had a nasty approach to it, on a turn and it was full up to height - Hattie very nearly stopped at it but i wasnt having any of it!!

well done all,sounds like it was a tricky course?ive never been and MAY??do there late autum event? The water jumped seemed it caused a few probs,all good experience though. See some of u at Brightling nxt wk!

Well still to this there is a question mark hanging over whether she is right to be an eventer but yesterday seems to have been a huge boost for both mine and her confidence and she just seemed to take it in her stride and ask far few questions and just take on the job in hand - she never asked a question at the water she just simply got to the fence said "ok i know i have to jump that" and then said "but wait i really really cant now" - so only positives to take away from Tweseldown really

Would you believe it she was as lazy as anything yesterday!! much like a donkey throughout and didnt spook/ bronch/ twist or anything like that yesterday -she was angelic in comparison!! i seem to own a very strange horse!!

Hatts - have I missed something? I would be over the moon to have her BE record so far!! I think your right - only positives to be taken from this weekend. Yes you ended up with a stop because she simply couldn't go - better that than try something impossible and end up hurting her and you - she is brave but intelligent with it.
You know I LOVE her!!
 
She's coming on leaps and bounds and heading in the right direction but its just crucial that we dont allow her to get chestnut mareish with me so im having to be fairly tactful with her and it seems to be paying off and i can ride her much more strongly now - all good!!
