On Sunday I took my 20yo to Tweseldown for our first event since May '15 following an injury and subsequent operation he had on his left hind in August '15. Following on from recent success returning to jumping, I decided to put my brave pants on and enter an event and we made it!!!

Despite plenty of prior planning, I could not escape my inability to arrive on time/early to an ODE, hence we had a 6 min warm up for our dressage test! However, he is going so sweetly on the flat at the moment, that we still managed to pull off a 31.8 which put us about 6th after dressage in a section of 41 starters.

Onto our nemesis, the SJ - and Tweseldown is historically not our luckiest venue for this phase! But Andy was so up for it (a bit too much) and despite a few disagreements on speed, he just rubbed the wavy planks behind to finish on 4 faults, over a very bright course.

Then on to the best bit! Nerves kicking in big time, but still so happy to be in the XC warm up after all he has been through these last few years. Flew no1, and promptly spooked at no2 (suspect shrubs under fence)!! Jumped it fine the second time, and flew the rest including some brightly coloured fences, which can be to the old boy's disliking. So finished up 25 out of 41 on 65.8 (ten time pens to add XC) and so very happy to be out eventing on my legend of a horse! Had forgotten the effect eventing can have on you - I am already planning the next one!!!

Super well done! Andy does not look his age at all, looking great! Looking forward to the next report :)

Well done, how fab for a 20yo! Love the water pic and his face is so cute in the final pic too. Glad you had fun despite the short warm up. Planning any more?

Thank you! There is a RC run ODE at Munstead on 30th Sept, so planning that as our next one, with some SJ in the meanwhile to keep our eye in :smile3:
