I rode out at twilight today, and I have to say it was quite magical. (I hasten to add I am able to get out for short hacks without going on a road at all - I certainly wouldn't take to the road at dusk.) The sun was just going down and we went off round some stubble fields - it was slightly misty over the fields and it was lovely to see the sheep and cows grazing in their fields, in the hazy half light. My little horse was fantastic, not spooky or nappy just happy to stride out and explore. Loved it and love my little horse - a memorable, magical hack!

What memorable hacks have you had?

Beautiful, it's so hard to time riding just right through the winter. I've had many fabulous hacks over the years but it's always been extra special to see deer when out riding. I had an early morning ride once, golden, misty light, riding along a hollow way and a deer stopped side on, beautifully framed.

Sounds magical. My favourite hacking memory was galloping along the track in the woods with a herd of dear galloping infront of us.

Granted the dear were fleeing for their lives with a thundering ginger beast with dinner plates for feet joyfully trying to catch up with them, which in hindsight seems mean but it was amazing.

One of my most memorable hacks was a ride around Badminton in thick fog with my sister. We galloped alongside the Seven Mile plantation and up Worcester Avenue with hardly any visibility, but we knew where we were going and the ponies were very responsive. Put a whole different perspective on the place.
