Ok, some of you may know that I am searching for a neddy.
Now one sounds just my cup of tea, but she has two blue eyes.
My question is, would this put you off buying?
Will we get marked down if we ever made it to the show ring?
Is there anything to worry about with blue eyes?
Thanks Kate

They aren't liked in the UK really. My paint mare has one, and her father two, but not a fault in them. I hated them and wouldn't have viewed my mare had I known, which was lucky cos I bought her anyway ;)

I wouldn't buy a blue eye'd horse! the ones I've seen before often seem to show a lot of white around the edge, which always makes me think they look really wild!!

Oh I loooove a pair of wall eyes! :D A girl on my yard had a gelding with two beautiful blue eyes, he was such a handsome lad and everyone fell in love with him! :D

My first pony had two blue eyes (probably why he was called Blueboy!) but they weren't really like wall eyes, they were blue all the way through, really quite pretty actually. Don't know about showing, my boy was apparently quite well bred but i never did any with him.

Nicest pony my sister had was a cremello with two blue eyes. Ugly as sin, no two ways about it, but honestly the nicest, most charming pony you'd ever meet. He was so ugly he was cute!

Everyone wanted him too- totally unbeatable, he was never out of the top 3 all summer :D

I LOVE blue eyes!

Technically my boy doesn't have blue eyes, they are registered as marble, they are actually more of a pale green than blue! :D

As long as she can see out of them I wouldn't worry :D

Blue eyes are like marmite, some love it others hate it, I happen to detest marmite

Depends on what class you are in. Performance it shouldn't make the slightest bit of difference. Coloured classes ditto because blue eyes are part and parcel of coloured horses. If a Judge has to make a choice between two and happens to prefer brown eyes then that is their decision. In breed classes it may make a difference.

I have never had a problem with the eyes themselves, but, as blue eyes often go hand in hand with pink skin then sunburn can be a real nuisance, my blue eyed mare has to come in when it is sunny because even her eyelids burn.

ps. I happen to like blue eyes ;) Both eyes are very pale, very common in Paint horses.

We had 2 with 2 blue eyes, a wee Shetland mare and my sec a gelding. I admit the gelding looks crazy as he is orange! But the Shetland was Cremello and it suited her.
