Two horses die in fire

Truely amazed by the support from the horsey world, I'm also glad sashas dad has put everyone straight. Can't believe people would think this would be a scam!
The entire yard is devastated by what's happened, its heartbreaking!

I do not have any old horses stuff as I am a new horse owner. However I would like to help by donating.
Is there a face book page link to help etc.

Deepest sympathies for your losses.

I'm very sorry if I offended by asking, but there were posts (now removed I see) on facebook telling people that other forums were warning that it was a scam. I thought it best to ask before I posted the rugs , obviously we all want to help the best we can in this awful situation.

I am guessing that the scam story might have started because of the person who originally reported the sad news on another forum.

Apparently he is well known for trolling and posting inappropriate content (to put it mildly)

He is nothing to do with the yard but helped with the clean up.

Members on the other forum suggested it might be a scam. I guess this could have spread to facebook and other forums.

Hi just seen this it is a yard very close to mine (approx 2miles) so awful :( I think they lost almost everything. I'm deeply shocked :( its not a scam!

Greetings All,

I wanted to post a more positive update having recently returned from our yard.

The temporary stabling has been installed in a recently constructed barn and is now in use. Our surviving mare Reenie (passport name Eirrean) and a gelding named Storm who was in the stable between Reenie and our lost mare Baggy, and who suffered melting tar from the stable roof hitting his nose before he was rescued, are tonight resting in those new boxes with two other horses.

We have also received our first deliveries of rugs and equipment, for which again, a very big thank you to all. Some of the rescued horses are not yet settled enough to be re-stabled and the rugs will keep them warm and dry whilst they remain out. Both Reenie and Storm are now snuggled up in donated indoor rugs, and so are warm in their "temporary" home. I have no real idea of how long it will take to rebuild our former historic eighteenth century stables and tack room that have been destroyed by the fire.

Regarding rockysmum's post on how the scam rumor started: as it happens, I learned today how it came to pass that Baggy was mis-named Babbage and it was a case of Chinese whispers and there was no maliciousness intended. I cannot comment on the netiquette, in the past or in other fora, of the original poster in the Land Rover forum, but I can say he is very much part of our yard. His partner stables two horses on the yard and he has been recently supporting the yard owner with general maintenance duties, e.g. repairing or replacing broken fences, in addition to his work as a tree surgeon. He was indeed at the yard helping us all on Friday morning.

I think we can safely say that the rumours that this tragic event was connected to any scam have been debunked. I would ask that we draw a line on that issue and hope that we can return the focus of our thoughts to our lost horses.

May they be forever happy in their new pastures.

Once again, thank you all for your very kind thoughts and wishes, and your practical help

Ciao

Poor horses and owners :(
They're friends of friends (I've never met them) but my friends told me about this yesterday. It's not far from me at all.

R.I.P lovely horses.

A truly horrible way to lose your horses. I hope the freely given support and good wishes from strangers as well as friends helps you and your family a little in this sad time.
