Found a new yard for my horse and pony.
They’ve been out 24/7 in a herd up to now but a couple of issues, horse drops weight easily in the winter and needs easy access ad lib hay, pony needs netted ideally or she’s overweight through the winter and then brings issues in the spring with grass.
They’ve given me 2 options. Decent sized field to graze how I’d like with them to share, can create a small paddock for my pony/muzzle etc. stabled overnight in the winter
Or half the field, and another smaller field with a shelter in it too so they can live out year round together.
I was considering the stabled option more to manage weights better in the winter but part of me feels a bit mean if they’re used to out together eating and theyre alone (next door but no bars to see each other) turnout from about 7am - 4pm

I’m probably really overthinking this 🤣
Thank you

I'd choose the half field, small paddock, field shelter option. Some much more flexible and they may choose the shelter in the summer and probably not in the winter. And of course we're all thinking winter not summer atm. If either needs stabling you could fit a gate and it means that they are still together rather than one stabled and one out.
