Firstly the person loaning my cob wants to insure him (obviously) but he has Navicular (which the loanee is aware of) and I have told her to inform her insurance company and see what they say. Obviously this affects his value if he were to die (heaven forbid!). Anyone any experience of this? Unfortunately I'm with NFU and the loanee is with Scottish Equestrian.

Also a passport question! Do I send his passport with him or hang on to it as I am his owner. I thought for travelling and vaccinations the passport had to be present with the horse. Some people are saying hang on to it and others are saying send it with the horse. So many questions!!!

The passport has to go with the horse. But contact the passport agency to inform them that he is on loan so the the details are not to be changed

Yes they need to notify their insurance company that he has navicular. Would invalidate insurance otherwise as condition is known.

Have you told loanee precisely what level / value insurance you want them to insure him for? Also (as you have said, god forbid) he does die you are entitled to full payout for final value not loanee, regardless if they insure him as you are the owner.

Yes the passport MUST go with horse, its the law. Take a photocopy for your records and notify the passport agency he is registered with that he is out on loan. Also update NED to state the same.

:)
