Ok I've got to write the rules out for 2-phase because our local show is changing to this this season. Do anyone have a easy and clear way of explaining 2-phase?!? So far, this is what I've got:

"First phase is 1-8. If clear then you go on to the second phase which is 9-12 (sometimes 13/14) which is against the clock. The first phase is also timed, in case placings depend on the first phase. (i.e. 1st goes double clear, 2nd has 4 faults in the second phase, 3rd has 8 faults in the second phase, and 4th has 4 faults in the first phase, but has a quicker time than other 4 faulters in the first phase.)"

Now that seems too complicated if you bare in mind theres going to be young kids that need to understand this. So, any help?

It's detailed on Page 148 of the BSJA rulebook which is available online at www.bsja.co.uk

ETS: The first phase isn't usually timed either

The first phase isn't timed but you do have a 2 minute time allowed. It doesn't have to be fences 1-8 in the first round or a set number in the 2nd round. You can also use some of the fences from the first round again in the JO - you need to put another number on them as well - so it could be fence 3 and 10.
