I have a couple of questions for you! My horse was shod on Tuesday (today being Friday) and I have brought him in today and he has already lost a front shoe. It has come off very cleanly no hoof with it and I was just wondering if this was normal or whether it could possibly be that it wasn't put on properly if you get my drift?

The other question is whether there would be anyone out there willing to share (and pay costs towards) my 16hh 7yr old ex racer who I am (attempting

) to retrain or do you think it's a bit cheeky?! He's the chestnut in my siggy if anyone wants a look.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think it is abnormal, so to speak, or at least not for me! My boy is an expert at removing shoes... our farrier replaces shoes lost in the first week after he visits, apparently there is supposed to be some kind of guarantee?! Farrier also said most likely time for horse to throw a shoe is within the first week

, probably also to do with the mud! Good luck with finding a sharer!

Over my time I have had all of my 3 loose a show within the first week of shoeing - not to do with bad shoeing - it has just been a combination of events. All my farriers (i do tend to move round the country!) have always come back within the first week and fitted free of charge, and i have know farriers put shoes back on free of charge (if you have the shoe) after that period.
