It’s been two years since my stop gap project arrived ....

https://forums.horseandhound.co.uk/threads/tales-of-a-giant.754005/

the project turned into a ‘let’s base it with a pro horse’ when it became apparent he had more talent than the hunter he was purchased as.

Today he made his FEI debut and he absolutely earned his stripes finishing 14th in a big class of 100.

He is just such an out and out trier, I’m pretty bloody fond of the big fella.
It’s the funny how the ones you least expect it just surprise you.

Now just sat waiting to get the car started as I may have left it with the internal lights on all blumming day 🙄

Oh don’t - been debating all day the keep v sell. Truth is I can’t afford to run 2 and I have the homebred next year. Just juggling options at the moment!!

HHO syndicate anyone ?! 😂

If you decide to sell him wait till the middle of next year, you will know how the youngster is going, his value will have increased, he may have some qualiflcations that increased his value even more and the new owner will still have half a season with him,win win situation.

Funny you should say that, it’s kind of how the conversation went on the way home.

Give him a holiday now, get him back in early - do Chatsworth/Rockingham, he has 2 x NRF quals and jump a couple of Intermediates.

The youngster might just have to wait!

Will let the agents know just in case, but I’ll be picky about where he goes, if he does!

Thank you for allowing me the self indulgent post and making such nice comments about my flying carthorse 😍

Some people like carthorses that fly, many years ago I saw a friends new horse bought for her daughter to event, I was polite and made the right comments while thinking it was a bit plain more of a hunter type but as they had very little money he should give them plenty of fun, well he grew up, changed shape, had far more talent than expected, by them as well as others, that plain little horse took her to the top as a young rider, on to Badminton/ Burghley and went to a World Champs, not bad for a rather common fun horse that cost very little.
