Just got a new pony and was looking up her breeding, aparently her sire/grandsire are well known.
Anyone ever heard of the "twyford" ponies? lol

thanks in advance!

Yes! Extremely well known Welsh stud producing huge numbers of successful ponies over a long period of time. Lots of riding ponies have Twyford blood in them!

Yes! My Uncle had a Twyford stallion (going back a few years now!). Very well known bloodlines - would be interested to know your ponies breeding

I knew Gucci well! I worked at the Twyford Stud for 3 years

He was a very typey little pony and had a lot of charisma! Funnily enough looking at the pic you posted i wondered if s/he had some Gucci blood!!

One of my boy's (RIP) granddam (is that the right word?) was Twyford Picnic. I traced him back to his breeder who said she had his full sister who was about 13.2hh and was a dun (he was a 15hh palomino!!). Breeder sold him as he grew to big for her scurry team and was hoping to get a matching pair. I don't know the breeding on his dam's side.

We had two lovely mares who were both out of Twyford mares in the 1990s.They were not only successful in the show rig but !00% childrens ponies who hunted, jumped and did all Pony Club actives as well. I think Twyford ponies had the best of temperaments.

OOooooooooo you have just inspired me to check out my 2 welshies passports -
My gelding also has Twyford bloodlines - back in 1965!!! (my gelding born in 2000)
twyford juggler was the sire
He also has Revel bllodlines -quite alot of his relatives seem to be revel, his dams sire was Revel permit

My 2yr welshie is mainly revel but back in 1965 theres a twyford sprig there too!

Heres the gelding:
(sorry its blurred)

And heres my youngster

The little pony (in the bottom pic) has almost 70% revel in her. Everyone says shes really ugly though and should have been named kermit (after the frog)

She is a complete escape artist and a little swine, quite nippy and very cheeky but shes excellent with the children and has such a personality! looking forward to working on her next year, she will be 3 in may and am hoping to bit her and back her when shes 3.5 then i plan to turn her away then bring her back into work as a pony for my daughter. My daughter whos 4.5 and little boy whos 6 both ride the gelding and are learning more everyday. Shes very petite though (the pony) and am not sure how many years my little girl will get out of her.

Twyfords and Revel are extremely well known and well respected breeding lines. they are generally fantastic welsh A's. Coed Coch is about the best, but you won't go wrong with these lines, and Bengad.

Another quick question on welshies passports:
My mare has a blue passport an gelding has a yellow? is there any reasonfor this?
What are the rules for passport colours?
My reg cob has a chaps passport and is blue and my reg TBs weatherbys duplicate passport is white?

I have just bought a Twyford section A for my daughter as a Christmas present. He is absolutely gorgeous! A grey roan, full of character and up to mischief - ducks under the electric fencing to get the better grass while the others just watch - and loves the snow!!
