Just posting to see if anyone happens to have any alternative management suggestions that have made a difference, already had multiple vets opinions and following all their advice!
I have a 9 year old warmblood mare who has a real issue with recurrently tying up. First happened the day after arriving when I purchased her 2 years ago and whilst we’ve managed to get away with minor stiffness and very gradually fittening so far, this weekend she tyed up severely from spooking on a walk hack.
She’s already turned out daily, muzzled to restrict grass intake and fed analysed soaked hay. Always hand walked before turned out or ridden, really slow warm up and cool offs, exercise sheet on and hind end never clipped. She’s fed recovery mash and vitamin E and Selenium, nothing else. We’ve tried increasing fitness on Dantrolene but always seems to go backwards as soon as we try to wean her off. She’s been tested for PSSM and is negative.
Has anybody found anything different that helps? Willing to give pretty much anything a try at this point.
