keep it as still as possible, you can cause muscle damage if you make it walk. Even on a hack try and box it home. My old boss used to make me walk it off and it got worse and worse every time. Hopefully you have a good vet and between you you should be able to stop it happening again. hope this helps
Don't move it. You will cause more muscle damage if you do. Throw a warm rug over the quarters and don't attempt to make horse move any more than strictly necessary. Keep horse comfortable (offer hay and water but no hard feed) and call vet.
No, never try & move it, even if you're out on a hack. Keep it as still as possible, keep it warm, call for help if out (to box it home) & get the vet out.
It is very frightening but try & stay calm, for the horse's sake.
Vet will be able to advise you on supplements, feeding regimes etc. to try & keep it at bay in the future.
I've always thought you should keep it still, cover it with your jacket or something to keep as warm as poss and get the vet out asap and box it home if you're hacking
I'd say depends...on how far you are from home and how severe. If you are within easy reach then slowly at horses own pace get it home then box rest and emergency vet call out. If you are a mile or so away from home then try to get someone to box horse home then vet as before. Once home treatment for conventional tying up is box rest until bloods are normal, howvere you need to find the cause. My boy has EPSM so if he 'tyes up' then he needs turnout.
Hence...depends.
Best recommendation is get your vet out and listen to them.
