Bad weather forecast in Hong Kong for the weekend - a typhoon - nice for eventing in (not!)

In an interview, Mary King said, 'it's OK we've been told it's a little one' !!

- what a lovely lady - always looking on the bright side!!

Can't be that small a typhoon. I've just had the news that our Hong Kong office is closed for the day (which really puts a block on a lot of my day's work). If they're closed tomorrow as well, I may have a big backlog of work to catch up with on Friday - and I don't want to have to lose my Friday afternoon off, because I'm doing a dressage test (first time out for very novice horse).

It's not a "small typhoon"! Exactly what the article say it has been upgraded to a cat 8 and schools, public transport, stock trading, and business close on that warning as a matter of course.

Has been fairly windy here in HK - posted a T8 warning at about 6am, just dropped it to T3. Typhoon is moving away from HK but still expected to remain windy & wet for a while.

Forecast for next 5 days is rain unfortunately!

Except the 5 SJ team horses from USA, China,The Arab Emirates, Australia and Saudi Arabia. All stranded in Amsterdam as their flights were cancelled due to the typhoon...

Having lived in Hong Kong for the fair majority of my life I can tell you now that no typhoon is a small typhoon! Lets hope it clears up in time for the eventing x

I know Gloster_Image... I was kind of trying to play it down as the French media seem to be systematically taking an alarmist stand on anything connected to the olympics as if they wanted to ruin the party...
I know HK and what the typhoons can do but they're used to them over there, have thousands of horses in HK as racing is so big.
Was trying to be reassuring

and I do keep my fingers crossed that no more typhoons are expected once the show gets on the road
