Trying to trace my old jumping pony's bloodlines. Now i've got a wee one myself i'm interested in where my ponies came from as i'd like her to have as good ponies as i had. Thought i'd start with the easiest one. She is registered as Tythe-Moon Shadow with BSJA. Born 1975 approx . On her passport it says palamino but she was cremolla (sp) She looked like chestnut tb crossed with ?? palamino pony. We lost her 2 yrs ago at the grand old age of 35/36. I notice from the bsja website there are a number of Tythe Moon prefix horses/ponies registered. I'm presuming these horses are from the same mare. Her passport was lost in a house move. Can anyone shed some light on where she came from/ Mam & dad. She was much loved and is much missed it would be greatly appreciated. She came to me at about 1989 . I saw her jumping and loved her and then bought her 6 months later from a dealer near me. I remember she was with the same person for a number of years around 8 (maybe her breeder) then she had a quick turnaround of owners before she came to me. Any help much appreciated. No idea about her breeding, I have been trying to trace my jumping pony too and also have only first name basis to go on but in your case as you have a prefix then I would search the central prefix register as it just might be registered there with a name next to it for her breeders. After that I would get on some of the palomino pages on FB and similar and ask through there as they may recognise the lines you are looking for or the prefix again.
Sorry can't help more : (

Cheers Cherrygarden. Hadn't though of that. Tythe prefix is registered to Mrs L Priest with the Welsh pony society. Away to see what i can find from google. Good luck in your quest. Who are you looking for??:)

Oh ! I remember this pony from a yard I worked at (Scotland)!
I don't know anything about her breeding though, but she was at the yard on trial for the daughter to jump. She didn't stay long as they weren't really suited to each other. I'm pretty sure it was around 1988/89 though, she was definitely cremello and a really nice pony. Was her stable name Nell or Nellie, as that rings a bell ? (I had my own bay 14.2hh nutcase of a mare there at the time which I sold in 1989 and bought a 16.1hh bay Tb gelding from the girl's dad, who was a dealer).

The girl who had her on trial had 13.2hh JA's called Panasonic ( Ted - chestnut gelding) and Black Cat III (Pussy - black mare. Her dad NEVER used this pony's stable name, always called her Black Cat, lol !).
Her 14.2hh JA's were Sergeant Dibbles ( Dibbles - grey gelding, and her best pony), she had a few come and go to try, including Tythe Moon Shadow (cremello mare), a grey gelding called Step By Step (Schweppes), Bright Ruby (Ruby - chestnut mare), and she rode a pony called Midnight Arizona (Zena - chestnut mare). Her novice 14.2hh's were Irish View (Kizzy - dark bay mare), Senior Pavarotti (Ted - bay gelding), Our Mandella (Manny - grey gelding) and she sometimes rode her cousin's pony, Future Prospect (Dancer - bay mare).
I can't remember any other ponies she had at the time, but Tythe Moon Shadow was certainly under my care for a short while :).

Hi Littlewildone. I remember all these ponies well. Ted was a wee sweetie and pussy used to pee everywhere (very apt lols) I bought Nellie from him a couple of weeks after he got her for Sadie. He brought her up from England where she had spent all her previous life. She was jumped the year previous by a girl (can't remember her name) Derek Newall (sp) used to train her, and I do know her first registered owners had her for about 8 yrs (maybe her breeder). There were a number of "Tythe" Prefix ponies around at that time so somebody must know where they came from. I remember another one jumping same time as me called "Tythe Friday the 13th". Theres also a number of show ponies with the prefix. The prefix is registered to a Mrs L Priest but can't find any more details. So if anybody knows where "Tythe" prefix horses/ponies come from or who Mrs L Priest is any hep would be appreciated. One for the oldies as she was bred around 1975 ;) thx

The whole point of the prefix register is to be able to trace your stock and for people to get in touch, if you phone the lady at the CPR she will pass details either way according to how she is allowed and if you phone the WPCS they will tell you anything if you ask them to forward letters for you as it saves them the work(sorry norty me but I have been given many details that I am quite sure I shouldn't have been just to save the fella in the office from doing something himself). I would also advertise on the WPCS website in the wanted bit for info as someone will remember if a lot of ponies were bred and I have just thought of someone I can ask who might remember so will get back to you if I find anything out.....
The pony I am looking for was my first pony and she was called Rainbow Rosie and was a very leggy, all white socks and belly splash with a white blaze bay mare of 13.2hh with a huge jump, she disappeared down to Sussex doing pony clubbing with the family who bought her from me (the Franceses) and apparently there was some competition to buy her when they sold her then I can't find her.... She would be 25/26 by now, she had no details or passport at the time but was out of a welsh B mare, liver chestnut white socks called Toffee and by an anglo arab stallion I think called Sun King or something similar and she was bought from people who make rocking horses in Sussex the Rainbows who bought her from her breeders. I would just love to know where she is really as always said she could come home if needed but I have a half feeling she may be no longer with us or is maybe just far away in her head......
Anyway I will see who knows anything about Tythe people and let you know...

Just a thought and maybe you have already tried, but wouldn't the BSJA have records of everyone who had ever competed with these ponies ?
I know that with breed societies, they won't tell you anyone's personal information but it IS possible for them to pass on messages to previous owners on your behalf.
If Nellie was part bred Welsh, and registered as a partbred, the WPCS will have her details in the partbred studbook. That's only if one of her parents was a registered Welsh though.

This is really bringing back memories of all the ponies on the circuit at the time, I can picture lots of them, and their riders, but trying to remember their names is a different story, lol !
Miss Nancy, Lochmills Teko, Another Penny, My Hucklebuck, Midshawton Kali, Prince Regent, Bright Morning Star, Cogshall Crofter, Sandy Ago (sp ?), One In A Million, My Boy George, Right Said Fred, Lady Dior, My Dun Glen, My Silver Glen, King Ralph, and many, many more who's names escape me at the moment :D

Thanks Cherry Garden, thats useful to know. I shall give them a wee try. :D Wildone they may well have but i'm not a BSJA member any more so will get charged for any horse search i do

Just updating with my progress. I found the "Tythe" lady who filled me in on a few details. She bought her as a 3 yo from dealer Billy Platt, she had apparently just come over from Ireland, the Tythe lady sold her on to do eventing but she popped up a few years later with showjumper Jonathon Cave, was sold on a few times and then came to me. So my search has moved across the water to Ireland. I do remember jumping in the 80's in Ireland and there were a fair few cream coloured ponies on the circuit. Cosmopolitain being one of them. Anyone know who was breeding dilutes in ireland in the 70's??

OMG.....I used to work for Linda Priest when she and her sister Janet Philips owned Trewalla Equestrian Centre in Cornwall. All the ponies/horses had the Tythe prefix and were jumped by Janet's daughter Liza.
I remember Friday (the 13th) and Rose (Tythe Delta Rose) and Dino (Tythe Springdino) but can't actually remember Moon Shadow. We had a pony in the riding school there called Moonshadow but he was a grey gelding.
What a blast from the past!!
