I'm feeling really down in the dumps, my 4 year old who is coming on so well in all respects just will not canter on her right lead. She's fine on the left lead, and also fine on the right lead on the lunge or loose schooling but as soon as I am up on board she just wont.

Instructor has been saying that she reckons its not me, and last lesson we *almost* had it - but not quite!! this week i've tried her on the lunge for the first time catering, and guess what first time no probs!! I'm at my wits end, we've tried poles, doing endless circles, leg yielding to a corner then striking off but despite everything she still goes on the wrong leg (which irritatingly enough she seems to do rather well

). Next step is instructor will have to have a go next lesson (she doesnt know it yet

) and then i think look down the physio route perhaps. Don't suppose anyone can think of some wonderful tip that will solve all our woes in one go!?!

Bend her head to the outside to make her fall onto the right leg? That worked on my mare. Maybe get her back etc checked just incase its something to do with that?

i had this problem with my youngster and i also tried bending neck to outside it worked a treat after seven months of trying i saw this at a monty roberts demo what he said is that it opens up the shoulder so they strike off on the correct leg
