A few friends and I are looking to do a long weekend riding holiday, 3 of us have our own horses and 2 don't at the moment. Everyone can ride well, having loaned/owned in the past for the non-owners. We are looking for somewhere within 2 hrs of Manchester, we want to do long off road hacks. Just wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere suitable? Ideally self guided or a guide with just us, we don't really want to go trekking around with people we don't know! Thanks in advance :-)

We went with freerein many moons ago - self guided riding around the black mountains in wales staying an inns and farms with provision for the horses. It was really great, thoroughly recommend it. Not sure if they let you bring your own horses but it would be worth an enquiry. They were very relaxed and nice to deal with.

Stonetrail in Cumbria, might be a bit over two hours depending what side of Manchester you are but they have horses on site and also facilities to bring your own. Haven't been but a few friends have and enjoyed it.
