Hi and Happy New Year to everyone!

My resolution this year is to take my 19 year old chappie (that's the horse - not my toy boy!) for a few days away with a few horsey friends in the UK (possibly Wales due to travelling distances from Buckinghamshire), and my ambition is to ride him on the beach. Does anyone have any personal recommendations for anywhere suitable? There are so many different places to consider but personal recommendation is usually the best way forward. Thanks to anyone who can give me any pointers.

Sue

Hi Sue My friend and I take our horses to Ocean Lodge Holiday Park at Brean in Somerset. Depends what facilities you want, but there is a sand paddock with 3 stables. Everything is supplied except hard feed. The caravans are clean and comfortable and you literally ride away from the paddock, down a slope and directly onto the beach. There is about 5 miles of wide beach to ride on, and you can combine bridleways and do a couple of pub rides. We always have a great time and the horses love it.

Thanks so much for telling me about this place - sounds like you really enjoy yourselves there - am going to look into it now.

Sue.

Google Whitehall Farm in Norfolk; they have a sc cottage, with 2 acre paddock, or you can stay in the farmhouse. Fantastic permissive bridleway circular rides; one to Holkham beach, which is about 5 miles away; all off road.
Went there in Sept with a couple of friends and it was the best thing i've ever done with my pony

Hiya, we've just come back from Field Farm on the East Coast at Mumby, about 9 miles from Skegness. It was absolutely AMAZING! :)The facilities are some of the best, if not THE best we have ever visited, the beach at low tide was perfect and we managed to get all three of our horses in the water... woooo hoooo. :D When we weren't on the beach they had a UK Chasers cross country course, indoor and outdoor schools, showjumping paddock and lovely hacking on very quiet roads / green lanes / bridleways. We really, really can't recommend Field Farm enough. They were recommended to us by friends who had also been and had a great time too and they do have a web site www.field-farm.net We travelled from Nottingham which took 2 hours 40 minutes by jeep and trailer so not too far for the horses.
