I am VERY VERY angry that my stallion that was shown at the expo was not shown on h&c tonight.

That was a big part of why I entered him, obviously reaching a larger client base from the tv and when other studs/owners had multiple horses shown and mine and a couple of others were not shown.....Im not impressed!

The steam is literally shooting out of my ears!!

Not surprised, it was very disappointing with so few shown and must be doubly so for you. Not sure if there isn't another episode but don't know when it'll be shown, they haven't said. I've been trying to find the stallion clips on their website but they're either well hidden or not on yet,

I would imagine it will be part of several programmes, so no doubt he will appear later, unless you were told he would appear in the first programme?
I was impressed with some stallions, surprised by others, in many ways it will be a mixed bag for some stallion owners, as although I was pleasantly impressed with some, I can't have been alone in thinking some were very disappointing in both their looks and way of going.
There are a few now who having seen them I wouldn't use.
My favourite from tonight was Chilli Morning.

Don't think there is another part. Ken just told me I could see my stallion on the web site. Only one dressage stallion shown made, I felt, a very unbalanced programme, and yes we were definately given the impression our stallions would be shown on H&C TV. Just as well I videoed it myself.
Not so sure about the value for money now!

I am NOT surprised you are angry. The programme showed a total of 21 stallions by my counting, including showing Grafenstolz TWICE (yes the stallion performed beautifully but the time would have been better spent giving others a chance to shine.

I have been ranting about it and I don't even own a stallion! The jumpers and eventers, well I had seen them all before, but I was looking forward to seeing established dressage stallions I hadn't had the chance to see, and nothing, zilch, nada, just a Catheston.

We were invited to take our young stallion but couldn't for circumstances as he is now and was in full time training. However, if we had, we would certainly have not have automatically expected that he would have been featured on the TV, in fact it was only advertised later on that the Expo would have been on the TV.
Having said that, after watching the feature, there was obviously a pig push on "names", which I suppose is understandable for the watchability factor. However, from an eventing point of view, apart from Uptons D C and Chilli Morning I woud have liked to have seen more from eventers which seemed to have been prettiy much dismissed - is this because we are so good at this , that this does not need showcasing? Where where the rest of the eventers, young or old? The focus seemed to be on dressage and show jumping.

A nice promotion for the organiser. not so good for anyone else

I can understand your frustration but I was surprised how quickly the programme went. An hour sounds a long time but it could have stood 2 hours or 2 episodes, that way all the stallions could have been shown for a time that makes it worthwhile. Seeing them all for a few seconds only would have been equally frustrating. Maybe they could edit a second programme.
It is common for any videos not to be available on line until the programme has gone out on TV so probably the vids might appear next week - I hope so.

What a shame for those stallion owners whose boys weren't shown.
Overall my thoughts: too much talking (especially at the start of the programme) and not enough dressage stallions.

Not enough full stop. If I were a stallion owner I would be FUMING! None of the older dressage stallions shown...no ponies...hardly any eventers...and yet somhow of the 21 the Whittakers managed to have all 5 of theirs shown!!!

Agree, could have watched this all night myself, would have liked to have seen more stallions. I can understand, however, the push on big names to promote the event. Hope this is the first of many.... and ponies please

Well I am sorry but I thought it was very unbalanced (lots of jumping, hardly any dressage), and I personally think that all the stallion owners have been "duped" into paying for the organisers own advertising.

His stallion got shown twice, although you would have thought H&C would have cut the part of him knocking down a fence. Each advert break was advertising for him and Baileys, when I am sure a lot of the entry fees would have paid this.

I think the stallions that were shown will have scored, while all the others will have lost out, especially when there were hardly any spectators there in the first place. I thought some of the stallions shown on the programme were badly ridden, and the ONLY horse that stood out for me was Chilli Morning.

One of the pulling factors for stallion owners to enter this was the publicity through H&C, but the programme last night turned out to be more interviews rather than showing the stallions, and about 50% of the stallions got nothing out of it.

I must be incredibly naive because I automatically assumed that because of the way it was promoted (correct me if I'm wrong but part of the inducement to enter was your stallion will appear on H and C tv?) there would be a tiny bit of every stallion not just a few select ones.
I don't think seeing one stallion twice was very fair even if he did have connections with the organiser.
Why did we have to have endless vids of stallions trotting round and jumping time and time again, two jumps per horse edited by the makers would have been sufficient and allowed time for those missed out.
I watched specifically to see Treliver Decanter so was very sad to see him not appear, and it was obvious now that depending on "who" you were your stallion got more air time!
I also found it pretty ironic that as the entire thing was supposed to be promoting British Breeding every ad break advertised French Stallions..........
I was prepared to give the organisers the benefit of the doubt re Expo because I too think it's a good idea, but sadly it hasn't offered what it promised, a showcase for ALL the stallions entered on H and C. What a shame for those who took their stallion and went to all that effort and expense for it to end like this.

The clothing was French Stallions, should have been UK Expo

The arena livery should have been red white and blue

His horse got more exposure than any other and he finally got to have his little rant in his catalogue

All paid for by the entrants themselves

Remind me what the UK part of all this was again?

haven't watched it yet, but i thought Grafenstolz wasn't even shown at the Expo?

Whatever anyone says it was nice to see something recent rather then endless repeats of Badminton. Could have been in two sections but even then not all stallions would get the coverage their owners would like. Can we be surprised that some one who put so much work in as Ken did not get something out of it for his well presented stallion. I hope he goes for it next year as well.

i think it should be represented by someone with uk based knowledge rather than some one who lives in another country??? my opinion, more central in the uk in my opinion would have been better? may have had a bigger turnout and better advertising, ive not watched the expo yet im about too!!!!

I am very very very disappointed. I was really looking forward to seeing certain stallions and they weren't shown. Surely there was enough footage from the expo to have a longer programme. Lets face it how many bl**dy times have you seen the events from 2007 repeated on H+C TV. Very disappointed. Seems to me they only wanted to show the BIG names. Half the stallions shown I wouldn't of even wanted to see!!! H+C tv you should be very embarrassed that you have let down a lot of UK stallion owners and TV viewers. How many times have we seen JW jumping on H+C tv all the flaming time.......... Give other breeders a chance to show their stallions to the public, after all this was the whole point of the expo. Oh well at least the organiser and the TV show got their money tho! For those stallion owners I really feel for you, IMO some of the stallions NOT shown were better than the ones that were. I think what this expo (I UNDERSTAND IT'S THE FIRST ) has done is made a mockery of what we as BRITISH breeders are trying to achieve. I am not blaming stallion owners who turned up, all stallions looked immaculate, but organisers and TV channel really let you down............

Levantosh; I totally agree with you. Very good point re the National Foaling Bank. Plus you are totally right re the TV station and the organiser having come off best; all a lot of other stallion owners have done, given the emptiness of the place, is to effectively pay the organiser's TV advertising costs.

Hangb; again, get real; little or no "hard work" went into this, otherwise it might have been a worthwhile event, rather than an embarrassment; a shabby, cheap, make-do-and-mend mockery of British Breeding.

This was not what was on the packet, was it.

So much work, hmmmmmmm not sure what you mean by that, as far as I can see there was by far not enough work put into the event, otherwise peoples comments would have been far more favourable than they have been.

If had paid the same as all the other stallion owners and if I have been promised H&C TV coverage for my stallion, then I would have been fuming if my horse had not been show. Lets face it, after all it was one of the incentives for owners to enter their horses in the first place, be realistic.

As far as I know every stallion owner paid the same entry fee for the event, every stallion owner was promised the same exposure, so every stallion owner has the right to some TV coverage.

It seems the organisers picked and chose which stallion THEY wanted to be featured on the program, how rude is that, how rude for them to suggest to a client that there horse was not good enough for the TV.

How rude!!!!!!!!!

Alot of people have commented on how outstanding Chilli Morning was.... i unfortunately didn't see the expo live or on H and C... could someone tell me what he was like.... have been thinking about putting my mare to him.

XxX

Fair enough a 2hr slot is not enough time to show all the stallions..but seeing as H&V is CONSTANTLY airing repeats why could it not have been made into two episodes and thus give H&C 2 new shows to repeat.

Chick1989 - Chilli was indeed stunning. He was IMO and in that of a lot of others, the one horse that shone the most...even in a short slot. He is very clasy and instantly stood out just walking into the arena - he is a superb athletic mover, incredibly honest jump, tidy and just in general I woudl say the only one that really jumped out at me on the show. He has clearly been superbly schooled and I was presented beautifully. I have spoken to a few big breeders who were there and he was also the horse that really stood out for all of them....whether they were into eventing or not. If you have a mare tht suits then I would use him without a doubt!

Just watched that clip Chick - I love that the opening horse of the show was Romarnic Ranger and they said he will be shown on the show.....he wasn't though.

having just watched it, i love my jumping stallions but it was very much a bias show??it would have been nice to see all the stallions, 1hr is nowhere near enough time to show them off. very unfair that all the jw stallions got a showing, i to would have loved to see td and many more of the others. I feel let down for some stallion owners who thought they may be on tv. Romanic ranger was advertised on the h&c website, but did i miss him on the tele??? very poor in my book. i to would have thought there would have been some mention to the national foaling bank, and didnt some offer a stallion service in the rafflle????

I dont know about you but Im not suprised one bit that Horse and Country TV has disapointed yet again, lets face it when the channel was launched most of us were excited to have the opportunity to watch programmes devoted soley to our passsion of equestrianism, well that was what a was looking forward to anyway, what i was not expecting was constant repeats of shows 3 years olds, shabby reporting and annoying low budget adds for online bingo!!!!!

The highlight for me personally was when the orgainser said in his interview something along the lines of

"I hope the expo can grow and i hope even our europeon breeders could come over to see what british breeding has to offer"

I bl**dy hope not as I for one would pretend to be foreign and find the nearest exit before i died of embarrasment!!!

From an outsider looking in who was not there nor who breeds sport horses i found it biased and very disappointing.
