I know a few people have asked me, about her progress so here goes;

My mare was diagnosed with ulcers in Feb 2012, after she stopped eating (poor performance and bad temper were all symptoms too) but the stopping eating we rushed her into "horsepital".

She was diagnosed with severe problems (i forget the correct terms) but bad ulcers and hemmoraging?...worst a specialist had seen apparantly. She stayed in for a week, very poorly pony, not eating for a few days and generally feeling like crap.

April, she was re-scoped, slightly improvement, still grade 2 ulcers. I decided it was best to give her some time off, let me finish my exams, get my head together and her to learn to chill out!... (snes not stressy to look at...just inside!)

Almost 2 weeks ago she coliced, nothing major just decided it was sunday, double call out and she had tummy ache ;) (buscopan sorted it)!

May (now), took her back today and we are ULCER FREE :D Some minimal scar tissue but nothing....not a blip :)

thats 7 weeks on Gastrogard (1/2 a tube a day), 7 weeks chilling out and 7 weeks of stress for me!

She is now being brought (slowly!) back into work, and were finally back on track for our very massive goal of Novice BD :) Shes only 5, so sometime in the next 5 years would be great! :D

There is still a chance they will come back (i know!) but if i manage her well, and GG her if theres any signs of stress, i can deal with it :)

Next results is for tapeworm...they blood tested her today, so hopefully in a week i will have the results - i didnt get a chance to ask them much about this but i will give my vets a call next week to talk it through

But from today - lets hope this is the start of a new horse :) Shes certainly happy :)

On another note... I took her myself in a hired horsebox that ive never driven before....loaded her, travelled her - she was fabulous. Just shows what a genuine little mare she is :) She had better learn to put up with me for the rest of her life too ;) :)

Thanks for the update. Really glad to hear that your mare is now gastric ulcer free.

Just a thought, and i don't want to worry you but have you spoken to your vet or did they mention whether your mare could have hindgut ulcers as well? From memory i don't think GG works on those, plus you can't scope for them, but there other products out there that deal with these, might be worth asking them about it, UGUSIN or something similiar has had good results with both types of ulcers.

Good luck with the BD plans :)

she was scoped last time and i think (i will check)! that they said that wasnt a problem

Is Ugusin good?

I was going to use OMeprazole granules (Which i alredy have) but heard more Ugusin treats both types of ulcers?

But any more info is massively appreciated :) shes on GG for another 10 days just to make sure weve zapped everything then the vets have said she wont need anythin else except for stressful times HOWEVER i would much rather keep her on a supplement for the next 20 years if it means no more scopes and no more vet bills!! and no more of my horse suffering because of ulcers :)

Thank you x :)
