Ulcers

I think my horse has ulcers, she’s shown a variety of symptoms. Anger when being touched, grooming, rugs being out on. Girth, saddle etc and back everything else has been checked.

She is insured so looking at getting the full work up done.

I have heard horrible stories about insurance companies not covering for colic after ulcers have been found. I am with Petplan, anyone have any experience?

I have put her on a gut balancer but if anyone has any ideas for what to put on that would be great.

Thank you

My previous horse had ulcers and colic was excluded at renewal.

I moved over to Petplan and they only excluded it for a year from the completion of ulcer treatment. I had to get a letter from the vet to say he had never suffered from colic and then the exclusion was lifted.

Okay that makes sense, I’ve heard people have done the same with the vet giving them a letter to overide the exclusion. Did you do this before the year was up?
