Hi everyone, i have a horse that has changed from being absolutely lovely in everyway, to being a real pain. Naughty to ride, spooky, naughty to clip and shoe (he has always been fine with these in the past !) - he hasnt been ridden for a while due to having a bad case of strangles, so at first we just thought he was fresh and full of himself, and although he has calmed down alot since being back in work, he just isnt the same - very unpredictable.

Back and teeth are fine, so i think he may have ulcers. Does anyone have any experience with Coligone as Gastroguard is so expensive ??? Thank you

I'm using Coligone at the moment after my horse had a colicky episode, and I have used it in the past, but in between I used Pink Powder as Coligone is quite expensive. I haven't had my horse scoped but suspect she may have an underlying ulcer problem as she does have sporadic gassy colic. But anyway I can't say for sure that's the problem. However, Coligone does seem to do the job and settle her digestive system, she has never had colic whilst on the supplement.

I use the powder version which is very minty. This is a bit of a problem for us as my horse doesn't like peppermint, so I have to introduce it slowly, and am now feeding half of the cup that they put in the tub. I wouldn't get more than that down her in one feed.

I would definitely recommend it. It does also seem to act as a calmer so may help you in that respect.

My loan TB is on coligone and its been fantastic for him, helping him be MUCH calmer and quiet than otherwise, I wouldn't dare take him off it! I don't know that he has ulcers but if so, I know its good for those too.

My horse has a diagnosed ulcer problem and I have been using coligone to support her after coming off gastrogard. I have both liquid and powder. I use the liquid just before riding or travelling and I put the powder in her feed. The powder is quite strongly peppermint and it took me a while to get her to accept it in her feed, I had to introduce it very gradually.

All I give her is grass, hay (no haylage), alpha A (non molasses) and coligone.

She's been fine since coming off the gastrogard.
