Ulcers / irritable bowel hay dilema

Evening all and happy xmas

my horse has had irritable bowel and ulcers 3 years ago and no flare ups been on hay and odd time haylage mixed in but i do trt to keep him off the haylage

however the current hay is very coarse and dry and although he will eat it eventually hes not enjoying it

dilemas is will the haylahe make him sick again if mix in or do i just persevere with the hay ??

Can you soak the hay for 10 minutes?

Steaming the hay would also soften it.

Yep going to steam or soak as really want to avoid haylage xxx he was eating when i left ?

I would soak and I have just started buying some new really green hay and it upset both of mine, they had cow pat poos and I tried everything I had which was protexin and bi carbonate, so I bout Lincoln yea sac and syringed it for a few days and it really helped droppings were back to normal.

I'd say either steam the hay or source something less coarse & sell what you've got on
