Friday afternoon I had the equine specialist vet out to Clover re: her mouth sores. These sores appeared about a fortnight after she arrived. They are on both sides of her mouth - at the same height. However lower than the bit and higher than the grazing height.
They differ in sizes, the biggest being about the size of a two pence piece. They are big red angry sores, which only get exacerbated by the flies.

I systematically tried to treat them based on what trusted people advised (farrier "worms" double dose with Ivermectin - Yard owner "worms"...)

Sadly the vet couldn't look at them and tell me what they were either, we're starting with oral and topical anti-bis (I guess treating as an ulcer thats got infected first) and then if that doesn't fix it we start "investigatory" proceedings.

The question is, if I kick up a storm I might be able to get OH to get the farm ready for her to move there now (rather than the month or so we had planned) thereby HOPEFULLY eliminating any allergic reaction it could possibly be.. or would you just sit back and wait to see if the anti-bis resolve it and hope it doesn't re-appear?

Bearing in mind this is a new 6YO horse I have had for 6 weeks and I am currently only able to short hack her when no flies are about to stop them getting into the wounds.
