ulcers

If you're insured & ulcers have been confirmed by a scope then Gastroguard is normally recommended. Diet & management may also need looking at.

If you're not insured then there are a lot of supplements out there & it may be a case of seeing what works for you. I find Equine America's UlserGard seems to help mine, I've heard good things about Hilton Herbs GatriX (mine wouldn't touch it) & I know people who swear by Rennies, Peptac & over the counter ranitidine tablets.

Aloe Vera is a great natural supplement for promoting digestive health. Get a good quality version though (there are lots out there, which aren't all the same!). :)

We used rite-trac once gastroguard treatment ended. Brilliant stuff and he continued to show improvements on it - supposedly it's good for hind gut acidosis which GG does not help with. It is expensive though so once my insurance ran out I started using plain bicarbonate of soda at the same gram dosage (which is a major ingredient in RT).... Horse has been great maintained on this with no blips, and far more cost effective - I buy mine online for £12 inc postage which does us about a month (versus £150 for 50 days...).
