ultimate things to do on a horse in the UK

I saw a post on here earlier about Cumbrian Heavy Horses and thought their website looked really interesting. I`ve also been looking into going for a polo taster day. I just wondered what else might I be missing out on. Does anyone on here have any suggestions for/examples of great horse related days/weekends out for someone without their own horse?

I would love to learn how to be able to drive aswell.My horse use to drive but i wouldn't know where to start.

Go to an event, of course! Badminton or Olympia

I went to burghley once - I couldnt see any of the fences there were so many people! I assumed Badminton would be even worse so I tend to stick to Bramham - nice scenery and you can get right up to the action.

Kenzo, that would be fab - but not very accessible for the general lowly public.
I`d love to have a week on a stud farm at foaling time - I`m sure its very stressful but it must be amazing

If I was brave enough, I would sooo love to try horseball. I watched a game of it in France and it was MENTAL, it's like basketball on horses and they just charge into each other and fight over the ball, it's hilarious. And imagine how brilliant Scooby would be at it - he's built like a tank, he could just plough through all those spindly little ponies!

Jumpcross is also something I'd love to have a go at, I think there are some good courses near where I live and it seems like a brilliant way to introduce yourself and your horse to XC before you're quite brave enough to try the real thing.

would love to try horseball - dont think I could ever get back into the saddle after reaching down to pick up the ball though. Another thing I`d like to try - a lesson on a proper dressage schoolmaster - would be good to feel what its meant to feel like!

Re Chavhorses post - do the Dartmoor Challenge! They can normally hire you a horse (one of their own). There are three rides, slow (think walk!) bit faster (couple of canters) and totally flat out for miles of galloping, I did slow as my friend was in charge re first aid etc. we were out for four hours riding, luckily the weather was a lot better than on the website http://www.dartmoorhillpony.com/news.html

give skill at arms a go, there are several schools that offer the chance to learn & ride on some very good & skilled horses (& somtimes filmstar ones too)
