26yo pony will need a lightweight rug on rainy spring days soon but it needs to be really tough as farmers "darling precious pony who can do know wrong" is a rug ripper (except it's not him it's the horse who went 3 months ago even though it's still happening if you know what I mean). So I need as tough a rug as I can find but all the lightweights I have looked at have been 600 dernier. Can anybody recommend a tough one.

i use mainly mark todd rugs they are very good they dont move out of place and are fairly tough i havant had one rip in mine, i never buy any other kind of rug now.

Don't know how tough it is but I got a Tesco lightweight rug last summer and it fits and works a treat!! No good if you are a rug snob and go for brand names, but hey it was cheap, in the sale, and actually cheaper to buy a new one from there than get one repaired, got my Masta one cleaned and repaired last winter, medium weight, and it cost £30, half way towards a new one! (new Masta that is, Tesco lightweight was about £12) BARGAIN!

Amigo do a 1200 denier l/w, as do Shires... I have a mare who destroys rugs too, its a nightmare as she needs a new set of rugs each season. Got her a 1600 denier heavy weight this year and its till got ripped - although we suspect the ripping is actually being done by her best mate, our other horse, who gets annoyed when she tries to make him play with her and bites... <rollseyes>

ive got an amigo LW (the better quality one, not their 600D one), and i think everyone on the yard has one too!
they seem to be tough and last well
