Well. I just registered, as i am looking for some good extra advice as you can never have enough opinions!!! Im sixteen and have recently lost a lot of confidence and my current pony is very green and quite rude, i was wondering whether he was still the right pony for me, due to the loss of confidence which i think stems from my recent Epilepsy diagnosis, i still ride, i take medication and havent ever really had any problems with my riding before, hence the confusion about me and my pony. I ve apparently got a really good seat, the pony in question is my second one, and i have been riding since i was four. So this is the major problem, my confidence, but i dont really know whether or not i would like to learn on such a young and boisterous pony. Hes not nasty or anything just green, but hes a cob and is quite strong willed, I am going to start having some confidence boosting sessions with a local horsey expert, but am still at a bit of a loss as to what to do. My pony is 13hh a piebald traditional cob so would be in high demand and i m sure i would get a good price for him if i did sell him to trade him in for a more chilled and experienced mount. Any advice would be welcome, and if i did sell the pony what type of horse or pony should i get, as i am sixteen i would prefer a small horse about 15hh to 15.3hh as i am 5ft3ish... any way help please.... :) thanks a bundle... The confidence boosting sessions are a really good idea, see how they go and discuss your options with your instructor. She may feel that you can work with your pony for now and that it may be better to wait a while before trying to start again with a new one.

However as you are 16 you are probably feeling it is time to move onto something bigger, just dont be in a rush to do so.

I would build up your confidence in both the pony and your instructor and when she feels you are ready to move on, go for it.

When you look for something else I would advise a native cross type about 15-15.2 ideal as first horses but can be hard to find.

thanks for your advice... we are going to keep him for at least another month before deciding what to do with him anyway... i will bear the advice in mind. :)
If we do sell him, well probs keep him through the winter rebreak him in the spring and then sell him on in the early summer so we have plenty of time together... hopefully. :)
