Yes! Kramer, they definitely do something similar. To be fair it could be a good idea, maybe with a different design to prevent over heating in really hot weather?!

I always thought that stripes were a con, but had a striped rug last year and the horse flies were defo keeping away more. It was more a zebra stripe though, so smaller stripes.

I made my horse a tulle skirt on his ride on fly rug to keep the horse flies from going underneath. That did work, but I suspect the tassels would work too.

Looks a bit odd, but might work if your horse would tolerate the tassels swinging about round its legs.
