I have a 9 month old cob. She has gone from perfect little in-proportion foal to this extremely uneven sight that I am quietly starting to panic about. Now I know they usually level off nicely, but I dont ever remember seeing one this uneven. Difference between front end and hind seems to be 6-8 inches. Her hindquarters look absolutely massive. She is the heaviest foal I've ever owned, so is it because of that that she looks so out of proportion? Please show me photos of your very uneven yearlings and then a hopefully normal looking adult horse! Because this one is starting to look more like a Belgian blue bull.

They really do go through the fuglies, I tried not to worry about it too much even when my gelding looked like a weird Llama like creature. She might look reasonable at about 3 years old but then go a bit wonky again. My two looked much better once they hit 5 years old.

don't worry. Mine went through periods of being terribly bum high. Head and front were like a 13.2 show pony, back end would have done well at a fatstock sale. I got on at 3 just for half a minute at a time off the mounting block to teach him to stand and have a rider. I prayed he would not put his head down as it would have been straight down a slide as he was so uneven. He is now nearly 6 and perfectly proportioned. Just have to be patient. :)

I've always said if you have a nice yearling you will have a butt ugly 2yo before it turns nice again at 3yo. If you have a butt ugly yearling you will have a nice 2yo, 3yo is hit and miss but by 4yo they will all be in proportion and only really need to go out in stature rather than up in height.

I find they always creep up bum first then there’s an awkward wait before the front end comes up also! I wouldn’t worry too much yet ?
