Basically where do people look for shows especially unaff.
Even harder for the unaff as there is no group for them like the BSJA.
Already made it in H& only in small print in the show guide last week but it's a start

. Doing tack shops and feed stores but where do Unaff people REALLY look?? What websites etc???

unaff peep here

I basically check equinetourism and riding diary.

I only look any further than that if I am feeling really desperate to go somewhere.

there is also websoutwest.

eta and please put links to your schedules, I know you def can for riding diary because I have done it for riding club. A phone number is a pain as the only contact.

We are just off Junction 23/ 24 M5. Bridgwater. We have a website also on facebook . It's on grass all cut with stripes!! lol FLowers around the edge of arena so ideal to prepare for a championship or something big. PLENTY of warm up and lunging area etc.

How about some schedules in the porta-cabin where you have to sign the disclaimers down at Stockland Lovell.

From memory they have a thingy with schedules in, an not just for their own stuff.

Do Pontispool have a similar thing? The Hunter Trials will be starting down there soon, and they definately have a thing in their cafe for schedules.

Have you done Mole Valley in Bridgewater? Otherwise Riding Diary and Web South West. Events down here don't seam to end up in H&H, (whispers, and I have even given up looking for them in there).

ah know where you are now. Mhen?

put them on riding diary and equinetourism with links to your website. For schedules..... put loads in mole. they always go the quickest (have done for RC) also animal feed, countrywide. put up posters too in case they run out of schedules. but tbh I mostly check on the web particularly in summer when not in shops frequently to buy feed.

NB I am pretty local to you but havent been to any of your events so far as the dates always seem to clash with other stuff that is on (or its raining

). Which is really annoying when you get a weekend on with nothing on and then a weekend with stacks on so you have to choose. It is worth getting hold of a diary from last year with shows in so that you can miss some of the bigger events that are on if you havent already done that. iirc (but I might not be!) you have clashed with stuff at SLM in the past etc.

I have also heard re SJ that your courses can be very variable to the advertised height..... and these things travel and can be enough for me to say oh well I will go there instead. Not sure if you are doing any unaff this year as not on the site.

Have just had a look at some of the dates for the unaff drsg. V pleased to see plenty of novice tests and the odd elem for unaff so you will def see me there at some point. It drives me mad when certain places run 4 prelim tests and nothing else

hope that helps and doesnt feel too overally critical.

I'm am near Glastonbury and I look for unaffiliated competition dates particularity in the Fosseway or Blackmore Vale magazine. We get it every week, and especially now as our local tack shop has closed down

Ester. We dont do unaff show jumping anymore only BSJA. The trouble was we are putting on qualifiers and the height is stated .85 or .90 say and we do exactly that. The trouble is a lot of the unaff people (Please dont take offence anyone) are use to going to the local show and seeing it built well under height!!! Clear example is a Badgworth 2'9 and a Hand 2'9!! Especially when we are holding qualifiers it needs to be up to height so the people that actually qualifiy are worthy of their place and arent going to kill their self at the final!! I know a lot of people who did the Ridgeway Riders around here suffered at the final as it was 'TRUE' to the height. Also the unaff people moan about the ring being far to big for jumping, half of the time cause the pony and riders are soooo unfit!

So we are just going to stick to the BSJA, Showing shows through SWPA and Unaff Dressage.

Yes i think i will put some out at Pontispool and Stockland Lovell. Thanks for that.

Also Ester, Thank god you checked the website as i am still learning on how to use it!!!

Did you open up the schedules folder?? Or did you just see the classes below the files??!!! Hopefully everyone can open the files up :}

Did you realise you have 'Calendar' spelt wrong on the website?!

I'm looking forwards to coming and doing some jumping this summer as so few places do anything on grass.

universal unaff sj heights are a quandry....... when doing riding club teams I always say you must be able to do a hand 2'9 not a badgworth ..... and spreads are generally no existant

grin.gif
or are the same from 2'3 up to 3'
grin.gif

shame you arent doing any, we have lost quite a bit over the last couple of years, not helped by the weather....... do you plan to have a course up to hire at all?

website. to see the schedules I have to click on schedules. I cannot get to them from the calendar page I would like to be able to click a date on the calendar and get a pop up box with details.

and sorry but lol lol lol at unfit ponies and riders!
grin.gif
really! never!
tongue.gif
we are surrounded by them it drives me mad that they are expected to lug themselves round one showjump let alone a course.... Although it is fair to say that my pone suits A7 as he can count to 8 and thinks thats enough thanks!

from universal>> all courses available unless competition day or day before for £20 for the course up to 2 horses per hour!!

QR My first port of call is always Riding Diary, but I also look out for paper schedules at venues, tack shops etc.

Could someone please spill the beans on which venue we're talking about here? I'm probably being v dim (not unusual...), but can't figure it out from the various clues in this post!

Website now changed thank you! Hopefully Spooted Cat it will not stop you from coming here
smile.gif

I'm still learning on the website front so i will try my best to get something on the calendar. However under the 'Schedule' page i do have some 'documents' there that you can open up and print off........................ I hope

Hi Universal do you plan to have any affiliated dressage in the future ? Somerset is very short on these only badgworth and stretcholt and stockland lovell is midweek

Hi Breezing,

We would love to. I have spoken to BD but they seem to think there are to many places in the area holding BD!! Strange. So they will not allow us if i remember the conversation right i even think Pontispool was put on hold as Stockland Lovell hold shows and their less than 50 or 25 miles away or something. It's stupid i think as long as we dont clash on the same days then it should be ok just like the BSJA.

yes that is stupid when you see how many there are in gloucester area and all close to each other ,hope to get to you for some outings with youngster .
